Re: You've Got Grail! The Valuation Thread
A new thought coming into my mind now is that collectors generally seem to collect JAMMA boards, not stuff that requires custom wiring. Is this so? Because it would be a pitty. This hobby has much more to offer than simply playing video games, an xbox or playstation does this! You can learn about any tech stuff concerning the hobby, not only reparing and soldering, but parts of manufacturing as well. Creating your own wiring with appropriate tools and reading schematics, understanding the complete functions of the arcade machine is very rewarding.
Focusing on JAMMA, adapting older boards to JAMMA, just swapping game and playing is ofcourse fun too. But there's so much you're missing out on when omitting that many games which aren't edge-connected.

Re: You've Got Grail! The Valuation Thread
I personally am very opened minded. Have games from original space invaders cocktail (used to be owned by clove sinclair) all the way to akai katana exa collectors edition. I draw the line at some sports, some puzzles and all quiz and mahjong games though. There are some people who just collect shumps and others just one type of hardware like naomi or mvs. You got to draw a line somewhere or u end up like me with no space to breath. Pros and cons i would say but ive crossed the line of no return a long time ago...have to agree its still a rewarding neitherless. Just depends on how much stress you can tolerate.uncletom wrote: March 24th, 2023, 10:35 am A new thought coming into my mind now is that collectors generally seem to collect JAMMA boards, not stuff that requires custom wiring. It all depends on region condition and if its still on battery. Ive seen some idiots try to sell conversions without a case for full price.

Anyone got a clue about the value of following games in 2023
Sega - Tapper (Suntory, original Sega PCB)
Sega/Nihon Systems - Counter run (fully working original with new battery that holds the encryption)
Technos - Mysterious Stones (fully working original)
Thanks for your inputs!

Anyone know what a Ninja Commando MVS cart is worth right now?
I’m too broke to buy, but hoping I have something of a similar value to offer in trade…

Yes its the only fully original untouched space invaders cab ive seen. Still has reminents of blue plastic wrapping on the cocktail legs. Got full locks and keys too. The game that allegedly caused a yen shortage back in the days.ChrisBEANS wrote: March 28th, 2023, 7:49 pm I’ve seen Sir Clive’s Space Invaders cab a few times now… does it work?

i also agree with the valuations above for c&d. Anything above 1k is normal. And ive also seen it sell for more yens than i can pronouce on yahoo.

I’m thinkg of parting with my bare Donpachi (USA version). How much is this worth nowadays? Can’t even remember what I spent on it myself.

You should plug it in. Really easy to test, mains power and VGA.
They are notorious for failing. I have six of these monitors, all faulty.

Re: You've Got Grail! The Valuation Thread
Thanks I'm sure it will make a nice freebie for someone if all else fails.
Even after all these years I could still lift it one handed & having the frame on the back made for easy transport home on the back seat of my GS saloon.
