Nice rug, I have been out rug shopping today and think it will enhance my listening room, just need to choose the right one.

Love the speakers, trying to convince a friend to buy some big Tannoys- he’s currently running Naim and PMC and it sounds awful.

The first decent big hifi speakers I heard were a pair of Tannoy SRM12X’s playing Clever Trevor, put my stand mounted Rogers LS7t’s to shame.

Great that Auralic have added ripping in a FW update but nobody’s going to use it as a CD player really are they.

I buy downloads over CDs these days just because I’ve run out of shelf space.

Hmmm, maybe I should do that too. I have boxes of them in the loft and piles hidden away in cupboards... must have a 1000 at least.

And of course a load of vinyl, that takes up a lot of space.

I'm keeping my CDs as the ultimate backup. It's handy to check the mastering sometimes too. Also, I'm noticing a lot of people (including Darko there) talking about ripping software that does multiple passes and checks the data against databases and stuff. Melco even sell a CD ripper that they claim sounds better. What's that all about? I've ripped all mine to Apple Lossless with error correction using a cheap Plexor drive. I'll take some convincing that I need to do them all again because they're somehow not "bit perfect".

Mine are all on Apple lossless than copied to a NAS in a cupboard.

For random stud I use Tidal, but if good I buy on Cd or preferably as a download.

Kern, my records are all pretty old, it’s all 80’s stuff, Smiths, Beastie boys, Ruts, Chameleons, Sisters, etc etc. Had a quick look yesterday and even had some early Public enemy and loads of 12 inches... KLF, The Orb so I must of been buying records longer than I thought!

And a tip that the room treatment sellers don't want you to know, the best audio you'll get out of your speakers is by putting them outside in fresh air and sunshine.

More thought through:

A cheap and easy upgrade to your systems audio quality is to place a freshly empty beer bottle on top of a piece of equipment. The effect multiplies the more equipment you cover, though its only temporary and needs to be repeated every listening session. And the secret the room treatment industry doesn't want you to know - speaker fidelity improves when they are placed outdoors in fresh air and sunshine. Can be combined with the beer trick for amazing results.

Another tip keep the same setup for years...it gets better with age otherwise your never happy
