MAME PC Enclosure

Post by FrancoB »

I bought a [pre-configured MAME PC] from 2huwman recently. It's a great little system and I wanted to mount it to something to protect it a little so I decided to make an enclosure for it.

This is the PC:

4mm routered, drilled, tapped and polished acrylic top and bottom. I added some lugs to hang the enclosure from in the cab from the hooks pictured. I use the same hooks to hang PCBs from.

10mm cut, drilled, tapped and polished solid stainless steel spacers used along with nylon washers. Rubber feet fitted to bottom.

DC jack mounted in the top along with a red momentary power button and a black latching button which turns the audio amplifier on/off. I added this as I have a stereo amp in my E2 so I use the output from the 3.5mm jack rather than via the JPAC.

It's just some wire (Nimonic 90 welding wire to be precise :ugeek: ) that I bent into shape with some pliers. I got the idea from someone else who had used some 'S hooks'.

If using them with PCBs I just thread them through the holes in the PCB or the holes in the PCB feet (if attached). Makes swapping boards so much easier.

If you want something the same shape/size as I have in mine then here's a couple of links to similar ones I've just found on t'bay:

[70-500V AC] version. (Use for AC power in)

[2.5-30V DC] vserions. Use for PSU output.

I chose 'two wire' versions for both as they're easy to wire up. I actually used a +/-19.99V DC meter that I had custom configured in China for my PSU one. I do have a few of these left over if any one wants them. They're ideal for JAMMA cabs/super guns as they can display full JAMMA etc voltages. -5v, 3.3v, 5v, 12v etc.

Yeah that similar to what I used, I didn't chose it specifically as it was welding wire though, it was only as I had it to hand as I *cough* borrowed some from an old work place. Any bendable metal wire of a similar thickness should work.

I measured mine and it's 1.6mm dia which is plenty adequate. I have some left over and don't mind making you a set gratis if you didn't want to bother ordering some etc. Just LMK xx
