Cheers Joe! I really want to see them finished too. If they are anything like what I have in my mind then they should be pretty cooljoeblade wrote:It will be great to this these cabs finished off as you've put so much into them already....methinks these may end up being the prettiest "mini cabs" out there.
Miss my project cabs...the little DigDug took 4 months from start to finish and that was easy compared to some of the machining your doing for these franco!!
Hope to see these badboys finished soon!!

Have you got pics of your DigDug? I would love to see.
Yes, get it printed and done!Johnnychaos wrote:I really need to get mine finished too. all the artwork is done. I just need to print it

Cool man! No worries with the delay, it's not like I've been anywhere near needing it yet. I hope the responsibilities you're dumping are not too important!

Go
yourself!
I just can't seem to say no to my fellow dudelbros
Currently making mini plastics for two others cabs but not for my own
I have got a jig made to make some stainless CPs though and I've got some programs sorted for them and the IO panels etc. Hoping to squeeze them onto the machine when things calm down at work.

But yeah yeah, I know

Striped side panels, albeit somewhat wider than traditional candy proportionally, say, around 4"? And by striped I mean a vertical stripe down the side of the cab following the curvature of the body , not go faster or pin stripe, think capcom impress. A full panel is too much aesthetically unless, like the capcomini it covers the ENTIRE side of the cab.
I'm not sure how well a wide stripe would look on it's own. I think it works well on the E2 as its aligned to the angle of the monitor which is at a fair angle from the vertical. As the front on these Sega cabs are near vertical there isn't really much of an angle at all.
I'm not really a fan of the Blast City artwork, it's a bit 'hippy gone mad with a paint brush' for me. I would prefer something more basic and clean and so it's the Aero City (not Astro City) styling that I would like to base it on. I'd like to stick to a fairly simple blue/white/black palette and do something along the lines of this but maybe with a bit of a modern twist.
As for the name, I like like Mini City due to the assonance although Micro City does sound good too due to it ending in 'O' like the Astro/Aero. I think it's more Mini sized rather than Micro however.

2015 it is then.....hopefully

The biggest thing holding me back has been getting the CPs and IO/service panels made. I was intending to get them made at work but since we moved to the new site things have been uber busy. The management has also changed now and there is no chance of getting personal projects on the machines. It's like they expect us to work or something

Since I can't get them made at work I'm going to have to get them made elsewhere. The CPs I'm going to get laser cut (see here) and I'm going to cut the IO/service panels by hand at home. It's these parts that have been holding me back as I can do too much more before I sort the cab wiring out.
CPs should be being ordered shortly and I've just ordered the aluminum for the service panels so I should be able to get on with them soon.
Feels good to be back in business

I've had a few things change in the last few years and I had put these on the permanent back burner. They've been sat clean and dry in my games room waiting to be worked on again and I'm happy to say I've just recently dusted them down and got back on it

I've also had a few upsets with the project in the last few years which further stopped be from working on them but they've all been resolved now and I can crack on

All my photos, like thousands of other peoples, were hosted on Photobucket and they no longer show up after they stopped 3rd party hosting on free accounts. I had started to move away from **** anyway as it was a bit of a **** service and so there was no way I was going to pay for a premium account. Since then I managed to download all of my Photobucket albums in one go ( using [this] Chrome plugin ) and I've just trawled back through the thread and updated all of the IMG links. That was fun

I've got a load of other threads to update photos when I find them. I dread to think how much information on the internet has been lost due to Photobuckets dick move.
Anyway, its nice to be working on some projects again. I'll get some new photos up once I have something to show
