I have a 20F1 it's only 480i sadly. God those Multiformat monitors are the holy grail for me.

I have the D20F1, I believe it's the last of the 4:3 BVMs. It shares the same manual as the D24E1 and D32E1. All 3 are multi format.

Ah yes I've heard of the D series. Very tough to come by this part of the world.

If you thought the BVM 20F1's are good you should see the Sony BVM D20 in action. Phonedork ditched his XM29 for a D20 (in his video) and so did I. Was a difficult choice but never looked back! D20's have component inputs as well as being able to go from 15k all the way up to 1080i! Gamecube -> component -> D20 is absolutely stunning!. 15k being better than the best 15k screens out there imo. Only drawback I can think of is the 16:9 aspect ratio of the screen (you get boarders with 4:3). Think Phonedork covers all of this in his video.

XM29 is highly overated imo and currently overpriced. Always some geometry problems on those! They are good if you like the picture of Nano's MS9's which is on par with the XM29 and the luxury of autos-witching tri sync capabilities. If you want crystal clarity and colour representations and scanlines that can slice through metal, then BVMs all the way

Prefer the PVMs myself out of the Sony types - I'm not a massive fan of aperture grills generally. Heck, the slightly burnt, bad corner converged Nanao MS8 in my Pony is still one of my favourite images from any CRT - helps that it's behind darkened glass. For 29" the Toshiba in the Windy I had was total grail.

I thought the D20 was a just a 4:3 supplied with a 16:9 bezel? Is that not so? Or is it the D24? I've lost track ...

The worst of the BVM is the size, it put me off after I saw Mark's 20F in person. Can't fault the image though.

D20 is 4:3, you can get a 16:9 insert for it. The D24 and D32 are 16:9 or id it 16:10?

I bought yesterday a 1454QM , it will arrive on Thursday morning. PVM/BVMs are kinda rare here...
Anyone here knows what kind of SYNC signal the 1454QM accepts? Can it work with luma/composite as sync?

Congratulations on the purchase, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Most accept composite video as sync. I think it's only the bigger (older?) PVMs that need clean sync.

It's a volume knob since scart audio ends up in a 3.5mm jack on the back of the box. I use external speakers (no speakers on PC multisync monitors) and I use it to fine tune the volume... It's just laziness really, the way I have things set up it's easier to mess with that knob LOL
