Re: Arcade Stool Refurb
Finally got around to upholstering my second stool last night. The original base on this one was thick hardboard (it was ply on my other stool), I tried 3 staple guns and none were powerful enough to do the job. I had an off cut of ply that I cut to shape and drilled which made it so much easier to staple the fabric to, so jobs a good un
BTW it's the stool on the left

Re: Arcade Stool Refurb
Just finished refurbing this stool, got it in a cab deal and the frame was in a pretty sorry state.
The actual seat was in good condition so i cleaned the velour with water, washing up liquid and a micro fibre cloth, just rubbed it very gently and it got all the marks out and made it smell like lemons (instead of hundreds of Japanese bums)
The frame came up about 95% better but unfortunately some areas are too far gone but not really noticeable unless your looking for it.
I used
Baking Soda
Water
Tin Foil
Autosol Metal Polish
Autosol Chrome Cleaner
Course Wire Wool
Dremel + Brass Wheel & Wire Wheel
New 19mm Ferrules (EBAY)
If your gonna do this with a dremel i recommend wearing a protective mask as it throws up alot of rust dust.

Re: Arcade Stool Refurb
Your best bet is to go to the housing/ enclosure section under the Arcade category on YAJ and bid there using a proxy. However, there are a few suppliers that sometimes get stools and sell them for around a couple hundred bucks each. It seems though that they are getting the newer stools that sit a bit higher than the ones you would want for a normal candy cab. The stools that sit higher are for Vewlix cabs. I just buy them from YAJ...cjameslv wrote:Came out lookin really good! Where did you locate one of these seats from?

Re: Arcade Stool Refurb
Apologies for the 4 year necro bump!
Since rancor group buys are no longer a thing, the next best thing I could get were stools from YAJ. It's been a mission for me to get these stools to my possession, I had to discard 3 stools as one proxy was asking for ¥60K to ship to Australia
Buyee was able to send through these in different batches, so I'm glad I now have 4 frames

unfortunately, 2 of them don't have the support brace but it still appears to be holding me fine

I'm going to be using all the info in this thread to bring these back to life as much as possible! It's a bit hard at the moment as I can't even go to the local fabric shop to try and find any form of replacement. All of Sydney is currently locked down until the end of September
