Re: New Daytona
As expected it looks like a bit of a dogs breakfast but if it's a rock solid 60fps with 40 cars and classic physics it might be OK.

Re: New Daytona
"In 2009, Sega attempted to give operators still running old Daytona USA cabinets something refreshing with Sega Racing Classic or SRC. It was essentially the old Daytona USA, sporting a new cabinet design & 720p graphics but it lacked the important Daytona license.
Unfortunately, that also meant that some of the famously catchy music was absent from the game.
At the AAMA Gala last September, a source informed me that they saw that Sega was bringing Daytona back with Daytona Reloaded . Unfortunately I was not provided additional information beyond that tentative name – whether or not it was a remake, a remaster like SRC was or something new entirely. Then a couple of weeks ago, I had another independent source contact me out of the blue that their organization was discussing the upcoming Daytona.
Now today, Sega Amusements has confirmed that Daytona is indeed on its way back"
So could it really be that this is just a reboxing of SRC with a dedicated cab and the Daytona logos, music and other trademark stuff put back in? Sigh...

Re: New Daytona
They found this in some attic or abandoned warehouse and decided to use it. Maybe it's like the new NES, all retro and stuff.....

Re: New Daytona
That teaser is showing the most boring parts of a Daytona race track. I'm still hopeful!

Re: New Daytona
Underwhelming.
Not unexpected of course, and things might improve when more details are revealed, but from what I can see so far it is a missed opportunity. If you get the Daytona license back and are doing an arcade only game, make a big statement.. a loud in your face statement! The cabinet design looks a little childish and the artwork and livery weak.. what's with that marquee/screen thing? Get the name across the top in big letters!
This is how a follow-up to a great title should look and sound
I wonder who developed the game? I know the in-house AM developers were disbanded a decade or so ago - it just states 'Sega Amusements' on the attract sequence I've seen. Hopefully with this only being a prototype they'll at least add a 4 way shifter for the full release (there appears to be space for one in the slot on the dash). Also I hope the FFB will be more Model 3 'manly' than GRID feeble
Well, looks like more info has been uploaded..

Re: New Daytona
Looks like it has potential if this is an early build.
The way the car responds when you hit the wall looks super frustrating with the instant slow down, maybe have the car spin back out on track in some cool way or show damage?
I wonder the players super bad or just struggling to get feedback thru the controls.

Re: New Daytona
I may be the only person who thinks that the Daytonaaaaaaa theme is irritating.
Looks like Sega sub-contracted this to Raw Thrills...
