<trk>:I remember catching a big fat one and my friend said "throw it back in, that one already tastes like wood"

I quite like the look of this one. It's tiny.

I love the sound of Chord's latest generation DACs (as you may have noticed). If you see a good deal on a 2Qute you should definitely consider it then plug your CD player and some sort of streamer or PC into that.

Digital can sound great with the right DAC and more importantly a good master.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
Considering that the transformers are already potted there is not much casing needed but what's the copper foil supposed to do?
Oh boy as long as it keeps the tinkerers happy/occupied
but i bet the hammertone? green casing matches well with vintage Altec Lansing and Shindo gear.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
I'm happy to re-house it for it you want bud. Rapid have a fairly decent range of enclosures [here] if there's anything that tales your fancy. Their catalogue is better to browse/look at rather than their website though tbh... or do you have something in particular in mind?
Depending on what needs doing I might be able to do it soonish for you before it gets cold to work outside...if it's ever going to get cold
I think once it does it's going to be freezing until about May
EDIT: There's some quite nice ones on t'bay too if you search for 'aluminium enclosure'. [This one] is quite nice. Depends what look you're after.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
It's that whole thing though. At a certain level it's just different not more accurate, not closer to the original recording etc.
Main thing is that your happy with it.
New speakers is my next move. Happy with what I have, but I want more happiness

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
Still spendor A6. Tried them years ago and really like them.
They pop up now and again at a palatable price. Im moving house, so smaller speakers would be handy.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
Jebus, got the vinyl for Xmas (i wanted to buy it months ago, but patiently waited)
I think I'll save some money and stick with my current speakers. Feels like the walls are shaking, the low end is so powerful

Pun intended?kernow wrote:Well, never thought I'd hear the difference between transformers but it's such an obvious difference over the step up in my 834p that I think anyone with ears could.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
Won a Project Power Box RS battery supply for my phono stage on ebay. Money well spent. Noticeable improvement in separation of instruments.
The rack is looking a bit crowded these days though
