I am using a multimeter set on the continuity tester but all the jumpers are buzzing.
Is it normal or I miss something?

You almost certainly have a short on one of them. It's not necessarily easy to detect which jumper is bridged using continuity test, but it is an indication that something is bridged. Look closely and you should see which one...

Good news! I assume you hear no crackling sound, right? Can you please post what's your revision, PAL type and which game was originally in that B Board?

Assembled my board today and everything's working like a charm. Thank you guys for a job well done :awe:

I used a 16 GB Kingston SDHC class 10 card (created a 4 GB FAT32 partition). Tried a few games and all booted nicely.

So when I send my board to you for the firmware update, can I request you leave that wire hanging on it? Because I definitely have that connector on my B-board 8-)

If we find the cause or a fix you can be sure we will announce it immediately. So far nothing to report.

While I don't have a solution for the sound crackling issue, I know why Super Puzzle Fighter X sound program are crashing.

To whomever are preparing the romsets for use with this board, please stop mirroring the rom banks.

Now here's how you fix puzzle fighter:

Open pzf.01 on a hex editor, navigate to offset 0x20000 and mark from that until the end of file. Fill the marked region with 0xFF and save.

The Z80 music driver is accessing the second socket (this game uses only one 128KB sound rom) and if it finds something there it crashes.

Now that puzzle fighter music works right, this IPS patch cleanly disables the sound test timer. (exact same patching as the one I did for Vampire Savior a few years ago)

https://mega.co.nz/#!zxkyDA6K!uQu5g-Pn0 ... 6hi2vf_wN0

Apply it to file pzl.02. Same patch for both JPN and Hispanic versions from the Avalaunch fileset.

Thanks for the fix!

For us dumb guys who have no idea about using a hex editor, anyone able to help me via PM, or even provide a link to a compiled file I can just replace in my romset folder for this game? Or some instructions on editing the .01 file to fix the audio e.g. whats a good program? and when you say mark from 0x20000 and fill with 0xff are you saying to replace 0x20000 as well, or only replace after 0x20000?

Also, regarding the sound timer fix, is this how you patch the .02 file?

step 1. Download this program lunar ips http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/
step 2. download the ips fix from leo
step 3. open the lunar IPS program (seems to be for snes rom patching?!)
step 4. click Apply IPS patch
step 5. Browse to leos IPS file as the source file
step 6. In the 'select file to patch' - change it from searching 'common rom files' to 'search all files'
step 7. point it to the 4MB .02 file in each of the super puzzle fighter game folders (Japanese and usa, one at a time), and then patch it

Adding up to mrjamma explanation (which is absolutely correct) both versions of the game are identical besides one region ID byte on the 02 file (68k program). So you only need to do file 01 once and can safely copy the patched file on top of the existing 01 file for both games.

For 02, you need to patch both as it's the file which select the game region.

Keep in mind that the files I have tested this with were the Japan and Hispanic versions.
