Plugged it, hit it and it works perfectly on first try. Tried about 5 games.
Set up with reset cable worked perfectly.
Spectres names is awesome, thanks man. :awe:
And thanks to idc etc for the rom works.

Mem card has everything and still has 340MB left. (4GB Samsung card)

What I did:
-Cut out the shape of the LCD-pcb edge in the bottom of the B-board cover.
-Cut out the shape of the LCD-pcb edge in the top of the B-board cover.
(If you do this better than me you dont have to cut all way through and hide the hole under a sticker!)
-Sanded (File) down the LCD-pcb edges a couple of mm. (Do this only if you know what you are doing.)
-Cut out the front of the B-board cover where the 3 big holes are. make opening big enough for LCD, buttons and connector.
-Remove top clamp of connector to make it lower.

-Buy a mem-card extension cable with plastic shell.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/62cm-Micro-SD-M ... true&rt=nc
-File down the B-board cover coin counter hole about 1mm.
-Insert mem-card extension cable plastic housing and glue with hot-glue. (Becomes really strong and wont budge.)

-Be sure to check mem-card extension cable when putting everything together so it isnt pinched anywhere or twisted.

Excellent, thanks for this monouchi!

So your LCD is not glued in?
It is just hold in place with the pressure of the top and bottom half of the B-Board shell?

Exactly. And rests on the small plastic pins that connects the two LCD-pcbs.

Have updated my long names pack for these, as while the included NAME files are very close to my naming convention, they're not quite right :-P I only put the spaces in if the name fits without abbreviation (or very close to it). Yes, I am anal. :fastlove:

I ended up receiving my CPS2 multi kit. Had a chance to install it onto my B board, and test it only for 10 mins, as Ive been sick with flu, and just want to sleep. Took some quick pics of the kit installed, and loaded up SSF2 Turbo to test.

How it went:

I used a rev4 D PAL board. The bottom jumper wire I previously posted pics up of, caused distorted audio.

I removed that wire, and installed J17 to lifted G PAL pin 9 - audio now works fine. If volumes up a bit in some games I can hear a little background static as others have mentioned, but not often.

Everything went in nice and firm. Definitely need that reinforcement PCB, made life easier. The only thing I would change is the bridge connector - I think a cable would be easier like the prototype model.

First time I loaded up a game, it worked perfect. Next time I powered on the system I was stuck on a red screen with the words "RAM OK". So I shorted EXC5. Then I powered back on, red screen again. I reprogrammed a game via the LCD, and then it worked fine since. Loaded 3 other games, powered off and back on, and seems to still be okay. I'll need to test it more, but hopefully should be fine, as I dont want to remove it from the case again.

I ran the LCD extension cable out via my coin door so I can access it easily to change games.

In short, so far so good. Big thank you to Pablo (Darksoft) and his patience. Thanks also to Jeremy (Mitsu), RobertMC and Avalaunch team! Regards, Tony.

Got mine yesterday, assembled it, and everything works 100% as expected. Very nice piece of kit which will help a lot in some current projects 8-)

Another success story here. I did have a couple of bent pins on the large board, one of which snapped when I tried to straighten it. A simple jumper wire fixed things.

Everything working first time, including auto-reset (moderate soldering skill needed I would say). Rev7 b board using supplied G pal. Didn't find seating the boards particularly challenging, just line everything up and carefully apply pressure until all the pins are in all the way. Same with the connector pcb.

I did learn that the vertical bar I used in my long names displays on the lcd as a superscript 12 :wtf: Will swap it for some other character and upload a new long names pack soon 8-)

With this said I will add this:

I just want to make sure everyone reads the last line of the update instructions where it says that we are not responsible for damage you may cause by adding the reset wire yourself.

The auto-reset is an optional feature. So not necessary to the function of the kit. If you cannot cleanly and safely solder the wires yourself then please ask a professional to do it for you. We are not responsible if you damage the surrounding areas while soldering or solder to the wrong area. Also, please properly insulate your wire so that it will not short if it rubs against something else nearby on the pcb. (ie. the SD card slot shielding which acts as ground)

I'm just trying to diagnose my problem and thought I should ask.

If there was anything wrong with the roms, or how they are stored on the SD Card, then would the LED screen would show an error or something?

When I choose a new game, it does the download meter till the end and then displays the game name at the end.

At the moment I just get a garbled mess on the screen (see my previous post), so I take it that I can rule out Rom or SD card issues?

No you can't rule out SD Card. That's the most common problem at the moment. Please use branded cards. Preferably Samsung 4Gb.

I'm investigating the problem reported by some where the SD Card will not work if you add new games.

A small tweak, the separator character that comes before the region code has been swapped for something that displays properly on the LCD ;)

Kingston 8Gb Class 4 working 100% here, product code SDC4/8GB. Looks like this;

Should cost about £3.50 on eBay/amazon.

As Darksoft said some people are having this issue with their cards. In most cases a complete reformat and reload of the card fixed the issue.

Thanks for the feedback all.

Some progress has been made! But I still have problems.

Firstly I am using a Samsung c4 8GB Sd, so that's ok.

Secondly I reformatted and updated the card with the latest avalanche Roms and put it in folder called games on the SD card.

Thirdly, it appears that the code that was provided by dan lane didn't work for me. However I went looking and did the following.

------------

Code to run in Terminal to show hidden files on Mac (OS X Yosemite only);

Paste the following then hit enter (return);

Code: Select all

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true ; killall Finder
- (to re-hide hidden files afterwards), use;

Code: Select all

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean false ; killall Finder
To remove all the now un-hidden folders (you can't just delete them manually);

In Terminal type the following then press enter (return);

Code: Select all

cd /Volumes/CPS2
- (replace CPS2 with whatever you name your SD Card as).

Then for the next entry line paste this;

Code: Select all

rm -rf ._.Trashes .Trashes/ .Spotlight-V100/ .fseventsd/
Close Terminal and eject the SD Card. Please note that should you re-mount / reinsert your SD Card it will write the hidden folders again.

------------------

Anyway, I did all that and I managed to get a game to display. However, it displays some vertical lines (see the screenshot).

Also, for some reason it seems to run worse (more garbled) when the LCD screen was unplugged.

Perhaps both of these issues relate to contact issues with pins. Now whilst the Multi-CPS2 mini boards look fine, it could always be connection to the A Board.

I did have some problems in the past with the B board, it was a progear that had been pheonixed (not conversion). Last time I shorted the Cap near the battery and it seemed to work fine.

I did test it before I took the chips off and had this issue again, but got it working alright. Now the glitches aren't the Cap problem, it might be a connection, trace issue, or the connections on the B Board to A Board plug.
