I keep getting Error 33 on this Naomi 1+NetDIMM setup when trying to Netboot.
Naomi 1 w/ E BIOS
NetDIMM with null key PIC, 3.17 FW
NaoPi
All HW tests on mainboard & DIMM pass
I've been using Akastsuki Blitzkampf to test, but it does this on other games as well.
The game loads just fine, but after a minute or two, it'll return to the Naomi boot screen and throw error 33.
If I try the exact same setup (mainboard, NaoPi, null key) with a different DIMM, it's totally fine.
Any ideas? Is the DIMM bad? IC5 socket bad? Anything I can check/do to fix?
Thanks.

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
I might be wrong here but I think it might be the chip. I have the same issue with one of my null chips. My guess it's the heartbeat checking for a server (gateway) that doesn't exist. You wrote your works with other DIIMMs. Also netboot or GD-ROM/CF?

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
The same null key PIC works with two other NetDIMMs I own with no problems. Exact same setup including the null key PIC, nothing changes except the NetDIMM I use.
All the NetDIMMs are 3.17 FW.
I don't think it is the PIC, since I tried two different PICs and three different NetDIMMs (with the same FW) on the exact same setup, and only one of my NetDIMMs has this problem (and the problem can be reproduced with either of the two PICs I have). I could be wrong, but I don't think it is an issue with the PIC.

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
The triforcetools script should allow you to bypass this error by keeping a connection alive with the netdimm, though I know this is not always ideal.
I had the same issue with my netdimm, null pic tested fine on another netboot setup. The only solution I ever found was to use the official netboot pic that came with my netdimm.

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
Sorry to bring an old thread but for reference I wanted to share some info...
The netboot pic must be tested OK on other NetDIMMs and in a netboot with "transfergame.exe" scenario (this is important!). In order to make sure you have a working "netboot" pic (which the null/zero pic used in a compact flash scenarion is NOT a netboot zero pic) it must be working with transfergame.exe. The netboot with python scenario does not use the PIC (whether it is faulty, empty, or for CF).
If that is the case, you have a confirmed working netboot pic then;
1) Check you netDIMM battery. If it gives out 0V (i.e. not charging, totally crap) you may encounter Error 31 and after that Error 33 also.
2) Take out the network daughter board on the netdimm and examine the traces, especially the ones under the PIC socket. I once found a gauged trace (see photo). I was even succesfully netboot Ikaruga but nothing else (tested MVC2, Gigawing2 etc). I even tried python tools and netboot everything without any issue. When I patched the trace, the Error 33 I used to get with a transfergame scenario dissapeared...
That gauged trace was supposed to be connected to one of the pins of the Security PIC.

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
I've netbooted Naomi, Triforce and Chihiro without any issues using a touchscreen PC and Transfergame.exe
But using a RPI I couldn't netboot anything on the Naomi but it worked nicely on the Chihiro so i think I'll just stick to the PC.

Not sure I follow you here, or perhaps I misunderstood. Are you saying that something like PiForceTools does not require a null PIC?yavuzg wrote:The netboot with python scenario does not use the PIC (whether it is faulty, empty, or for CF).
I'll check my knackered DIMM and see if there is any sign of damaged traces in that area, thanks for the tip!

Re: Naomi NetDIMM Error 33 (Netboot)
hello,
I've just received my 3rd netdimm (the first one was broke and the second brokes after a while)..
After configuring everything I try to boot a game from my raspberry and I got error 33 but I'm using the same PIC that was working on the second one..it can be only from.the pic the problem?
This netdimm has the 3.17fw I was thinking to try the update at 4.02 but is a Ethernet only model, can I update anyway or I risk a brick?
I saw on the other post that the games crashes after a while, in my case the game does not boot at all. (Every game was working with previous setup)
This is my netdimm

Thank you in advance for any help
