TFI Friday was a trip down memory lane. Great fun. I'm half hoping it comes back, half not.

Okay... finished it off last night... This article is almost right to the T. http://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillbarr ... e-netflix/
In a nutshell if you don't want to read the article... It suffers by not having "the suits" restricting the writing and directing... I never though I'd agree with that... ever... But it's a damn glaring truth that is too evident.... You can start a drinking game based on penis count... men eating dinner from each others mouths... (I'm just exaggerating! But it's close!!)
There's also tons of bum fluff.... by that I mean... inner monologues that could have stopped in the first couple of episodes.. I get it.... transgender..... closeted homosexuality... people different.... lots people don't likey... oh society! I'm a sad Icelandic DJ with a troubled past, glum noona... woe is them.... Pacing is the destroyer of this show. For every bit of great plot it's fleshed out by more than half the show going full neo-emo... If Sense8 had come out as a weekly tv show... It would have been cancelled at episode 6, but since you can binge watch it on Netflix it is a saving grace that you can watch it getting good in the end.

Now for the people that can't be arsed to watch it because of the Wachowski's dive after The Martix. Well... It's unlike their past work... You can't really think like that.. It's really different.
Get rid of all the fluff and you have a good sci-fi show, not amazing... but good. Sense8 could have achieved what it set out to do in half the episode count, which in turn would have cost them less so they could have spent the money more wisely. The production value seem very high and so it looks very lush.. better than most shows.. The sense8's are from different corners of the earth hence the locations and settings relay that when we rotate through the different characters.
The acting itself is a bit erratic... but I guess that's partially the fault of the writing... There's very cheesy dialogue which make you palm your face a lot... Also every foreign character is acting in English and you are made aware that they are speaking in their own language in real life... This makes for stilted and wooden acting... and they would have been better off speaking in their real language and then getting subtitles. After all.... since you don't have "the suits" breathing down your necks.... the Wachowski's should have had the guts to think that subtitles wouldn't put off their target audience... Believe me... All the Johnos, Jadens and Britneys ain't gonna be watching this...

I'm gonna cut this short as I could go on... It's a 5 out of 10. As I can't really grade it higher as a whole package. If it concentrated on the plot and device at hand.. sure it would have been higher.
As for comparisons to what Sense8 is like? It's very much like an Heroes without the super powers and Touch. Both of which are by Tim Kring... Sense8 feels like it's very influenced by those shows.

Its classic GRRM... Or cliche GRRM... However we wanna put it. Can you imagine if GRRM wrote superman origins... His space pod crash lands on earth crushing and smearing the Kents into their field. US government captures Kal and dissects him and he dies a thousand pieces on the operating table. Then somebody shoots a puppy in both eyes.

It's more or less confirmed and it figures... the face just didn't sit right and sometimes you could see the wobble... and I'm not talking about the tits.

I'm actually watching a TV program for a change (I never watch TV).

It's Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - tis about wizards in the Napoleonic age.

I do love a nice BBC period drama.

Wayward Pines is very good. A good replacement for a lack mystery show at the moment. A few good jaw drops. 8/10

Piling my way through Vikings after a bit of slow start and thus was abandoned ages ago. Good stuff so far... I like how it isn't trying to be fancy pants.. So Jax Teller can act like a viking as well as a murderous biker. A most versatile actor. 9/10, into season 2 ep 4

Tried the first season of TD but I couldn't make it past E2

Finished Sense8 and liked it - I think - but it left me kinda :wtf: No explanation of their existence or purpose other than outrunning the hunters (of which you don't get to know more about than that they don't like the others) while figuring out why they can do all this weird s**t.
