Tempted by this. I know they have a newer version with a better DAC but it's twice the price!

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
Could be yes. Did look at that a while back but the price (and limited storage) put me off. Drop me a PM when you're looking to sell. Thanks.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
I'm still trying to figure out what you did , besides putting the arm in a cup for a day or 2
i'm just jealous....
serious question though, i've just noticed now that the gyro is a straight arm ! dont straight arm Tone arms cause more wear to discs ? cause of their lenght and where they hit sit on the vinyl...
i suppose that it isnt an issue in high end audio players
edit nevermind i see that the head curves

Well that was easy enough. Marked difference heard straight away.
If you had a wife, she probably would have heard the difference even from the kitchen while making shepherds pie.

Re: Varnish connoisseurs
I'm going to let go of a pair of headphones, thought I'd ask if anyone here is interested before they go to ebay. Barely used them recently so can't justify hanging onto them any longer.
Pair of Akai ASE-9S, believe they are from the late 60s / early 70s. Boxed with instructions. Awesome build quality and super comfortable. I'm not a proper connoisseur sadly so can't really tell you what they sound like other than that they sound really, really good to me
There really can't be many around boxed like this. Box has a little rubbing a fair amount of foxing to the base, instructions have a little damage. Phones themselves are in really good shape bar the cracking to the leather.

Not really got a clue on price. £27 shipped?
