bought a netdimm on ebay (as-is) awhile back and recently had time to work on it.
The problem was error 22. somebody had worked on it before and probably couldn't get it work.
I already tried replacing the 16245 buffer chip before attempting this and I also have a working netdimm to compare and test with.
Equipment used: TL866CS programmer with TSOP48 adapter (ebay!), hot air rework machine, and soldering iron.
So first thing I did was remove the eeprom chip ic36 using the hot air machine.
I masked it off with some heat resistant tape and used flux on the pins.
make sure the pins are straight and not have any solder bridges between them.

Place the chip onto the TSOP48 adapter and plug it into the TL866CS programmer and open the software.
*my first attempt I flashed the 4.01 firmware (found online) directly onto the chip and IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT.
*so I took apart my working netdimm and desoldered the eeprom chip to dump the current firm (3.03). the TL866CS is great for dumping and flashing small ic.

select m29w160et and load the firmware bin file and write to chip.

solder the chip back to the netdimm with iron, don't use hot air. make sure to clean the contacts before and after soldering and make sure there's no solder bridges.
boot it up on the Naomi and check the test menu.

if success, you should see program ver: 3.03
I didn't need to replace the chip, but incase you have to, the parts can be found on digikey.

sorry I didn't take enough pictures of the process.
Although the TL866CS did the job, I realized I should have gotten the GQ-4X from mcumall because it can write Naomi bios files to m27c160.
