Re: Lindy

hmmmm....i have a few issues with the lindebergh design

first off the screen is way to high above the CP imo.....look at any candy.......the screen is sitting a mere 6 inches or so above the controls......putting your line of sight directly towards the center fo the screen when seated in front of it.....there looks to be 12-18inches in between on this...putting eye level at the bottom of the screen if your lucky.....couple that with the proximity to the screen you are in for a very sore neck

the boxy base...why? surely it doesnt need THAT much space for in the internal wiring and powersupply/game boards? they should slim it down so it flows better into the top half.....even if it smoothly widened towards the base it wouldnt be so bad....

i would also like it better in white or metalic grey perhaps......the current black seems a bit much......have fun working that into your home decor

good god....im starting to sound like my g/f(interior designer) :awe:

Hehe I didn't want to be that harsh, but in all honesty those were my exact thoughts and looking at it more often it really is a fugly cab like this. Then again still want to see it chopped down, it may all be compacted then and it may look a lot different, so I'm holding my final verdict.
I agree....

compacted

In the trash....

Gimme a Naomi anyday.

Half my AV/Games equipment is black, half is white. Cabinets are hardly ideal for any decor.

i'm not a Lindy fan, but then I think the NNC looks awful compared to the Naomi/NC color scheme. other people don't like candy cabs, other people don't like woodies. Cabinets aren't meant to be home furnishings, they are meant to sit in in entertainment venues :awe:

I actually think it is ugly too.. being the first LCD cab on the market it had a lot of issues from day one. Actually looking at it, I think Sammy where probably involveld (hehe UK Atomiswave UR anyone?)

It is too boxy, it looks 80's Sci-Fi, however I do know the build quality on these is awesome, and internal components wise can not be faulted. I think the control panel is actually a nice size for 2 regular people (even the Naomi panel is a bit small when you got a couple of "average" size people on there.

The New Net vs Net City colour scheme is a fanatastic one.. Due to my sales reporting, I log down the Countries, Germany seem to buy 90% Net City art, France buy 100% New Net.

Have to see what it looks like in sit-down version, I know there is plenty of space in the base for multiple game systems (as the cabinet has 2 PCB tray spaces), and there is also enough space in the upper area for a game system as well. The Lindbergh PCB is a big beast and only just fits in the a Naomi base.

It looks like a fat bottomed robot with a drinks tray.

The centre section is a dead ringer for the UK woody Atomiswave. Maybe it was desined by the same person.

It really does look a lot like an AW UR which i also dislike compared to the SD which was again taken from Taito. Must've been the same designers. And apparently my taste is German when it comes to Net City color schemes. :)

Personally, If i would go for a Lindy then it would be a complete setup instead of something in between. Anyway, I really appreciate the effort you put in it Andy.

Probably more of a midi cab, than a sit-down, remember the 16:9 has a center point lower than a 4:3 CRT, anything bigger than 32" would probably be overkill.

I reckon some of you guys could do some funky stuff with these shells, so sure of that I am willing to pay £100 for the best use/design of the cabs (as voted by forum members). Obviosuly invovles buying a shell..

Am I the only one to think that Sega modeled that cabinet on Davros, the main Dalek?

Just plonk a Naomi sign on his silver uprights and BINGO!

The blue light looks so cool! And it's a huge improvement with the screen tilted like that.

ya...lose the gap and the box and it might look ok.....is somewhat better chopped down a bit tho....

how exactly did you go about making the modifications andy? and can you even feasibly remove the gap between the CP and screen?
