Lets get this show back on the road :awe:

I've traded some stuff with Bryan (opt2not) and he's kindly agreed to work on my remaining artwork for me. I've seen some of his other work and I know it's going to come out great! :D

Whilst that's going on I'm going to work on the wiring side of things. The next thing I want to get sorted is the service panel.

Looking at this picture you can see the two shelves:

Image

The top one will be where the PCBs are mounted and the lower one is unused so I'm going to make a service panel for this shelf. The 'mini city' cab will also have the JVS IO on this shelf.

This is what I'm thinking of at the moment:

Image

(A) Monitor remote board - One of the reasons I wanted to get replacement monitors for these is that the adjustment board on the original monitor is a pain to get to. The remote board for these chassis is nice and long so I can mount it on the service panel.

(B) Voltmeter - With voltage selector switch under it

(C) RCA jacks - For audio in from stereo boards

(D) 4PDT switch - To switch audio between the JAMMA edge and the RCA in

(E) Power switches - I've mocked up a main power switch there but I've not decided if I'll need it or not as there is one on the back of the cab and I'll be switching the power on to them with my remote control plugs anyway. I'm definitely going to have power switches for the JAMMA power switcher and the 3.3v PSU though so I can switch them off if they are not being used, i.e. the 3.3v one when not running JVS and the JAMMA switcher when the cab is being used for linked VS play.

(F) Test and service switches

(G) Cut out for the audio amplifier fascia so the volume can be adjusted.

Anything else I'm missing?

Looks good to me mate, but I'm easily impressed
Good point about the original monitor chassis too, was a PITA to alter :)

I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. Just don't forget to clean the cab before putting everything back together.

Oh ya, they'll get a damn good clean and polish before everything goes in. I've not bothered yet as I still have some metal cutting etc to do.

Been thinking about how I'm going to link them for VS/co-op play today. Currently thinking about using some of these Lumberg chassis sockets and plugs:

I'm thinking of using them as I can punch holes for them in the lower rear of the cabinet with a 19mm Q-Max cutter.

I'm planning on using a 12 position one for the controls and a 8 position one for the video and audio

20 pins ... that means you could also use a scart cable. :D

Do you know what, that's not a bad idea at all old bean! :awe:

Panel mounting a scart socket would be a bit more work than punching round holes for the Lumberg connectors but it would be a hell of a lot cheaper! The Lumberg parts were working out to be about £50 :problem:

I panel mounted a scart socket for Andys supergun a while back so I should be able to do something similar on a metal panel with some careful chain drilling and filing

Image

Scart plugs are also at 90 degrees which is something I wanted :) I'll need to make some scart cables up to suit but it shouldn't be a problem.

Can you get someone to make you a durable template with a CNC machine or router? Use double sided tape to hold it in place and file away. :awe:

Scart would be awkward. I would use something more appropriate for a cab like JST YL (21-way).

Continuing work on the sideart, this is the first time I've tried to colour anything in photoshop so baby steps. Did the little baby dinos this morning;

From

First flat colour

To
Image
Proper colour

I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'm just trying to make them 3d-ish and to "pop" a little :shifty:

Lovely work Spectre. I think you have it about right. Not shaded so much as to lose the lineart look. Just "pops a little", with a nice texture and bold colour.
