This...http://www.sega-16.com/2007/04/side-by- ... vs-arcade/ one of the biggest dissapointments in my video game history.

Final Fight SNES!! Only 1 player! No Guy! She-males turned into male punks! Only 2-3 enemies of screen! (I didn't notice that when I young though.)
From wiki:
"An 8-megabit port of Final Fight for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released as a launch title for the platform in Japan in 1990 and later in North America in 1991 and then in the PAL region in 1992. It was released for the Wii's Virtual Console service in 2007. The SNES port removed the two-player co-op option, the Industrial Area level, and playable character Guy. Most of the scene transitions were also edited out. In the arcade version, the player characters would be seen exiting the levels and breaking through doors unlike the SNES version. Due to hardware limitations the SNES version could only display two or three enemies on-screen, in contrast to the CPS arcade version, which could display up to nine or ten enemies on-screen; to make up for this difference, the SNES version features more stopping points than the arcade version and the enemy placement is vastly different.[citation needed]

The English localization of the SNES port was censored for its content and features several differences from its Japanese Super Famicom counterpart: the first two bosses, Damnd and Sodom, were renamed Thrasher and Katana respectively; Belger's wheelchair was redrawn to look like an office chair; Poison and Roxy, two transvestite enemy characters,[7] were replaced with two male enemies named Billy and Sid;[8] all alcoholic references were removed, with two health-recovering items replaced; the line "Oh! My God", spoken by an enemy when his car is destroyed during the first bonus stage, was changed to "Oh! My Car"; the blood splash effect shown when a character is stabbed is replaced by a generic explosion;[9] and some of the darker skinned enemy characters were given lighter skin tones.[citation needed]

A revised edition of the SNES port, titled Final Fight Guy, was released in Japan in 1992. This version replaced Cody with Guy as a selectable character (with a new opening and ending sequence explaining Cody's absence), included four difficulty settings, and added other new features such as two new power-ups, although the Industrial Area stage and the Two-Player mode were still omitted. An American version of the game (featuring the same changes in the localization as in the first game) was released in June 1994 as a rental-only game that was initially available at Blockbuster stores, although it was later given a limited release."

My other most disappointing arcade conversion is this monstrosity...

:shifty:

I like how the default throw of a 45 degree angle, unlike the straight-up shoot of the arcade, makes playing through the levels feel like you're some kind of cyborg Tarzan. The arcade version feels more rigid in comparison.
The levels themselves are more fun and seem designed to make better use of the swing mechanic, and I also enjoy the Commando style mini-game when you run into an enemy on the map screen.
I also like the map screen,
and of course, the surprisingly uncensored gory explosion of Hitler's head at the end.

Just my opinion though. I do like the arcade version as well, just not as much.

I have to say that I found the C64 version more enjoyable than the arcade version too.

The NES TMNT was a total rewrite. I think they ported the arcade version later as a sequal.

The first arcade and NES games just use the name of the franchise (except in Japan the Famicom version is called Gekikame Ninja Den). But for some reason they decided to call the port of the arcade game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game in the west, while it's just Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the Famicom, just like the arcade original. Blah blah blah, so it's not really a sequel, but a port of the arcade game, and the first game is a stand alone masterpiece. :awe:

Got another one ...

Double Dragon (1) Arcade vs. NES

I will beat up the NES' lower performance, but there were some features added in the NES version.

First, there was that horrible level added, with the falling stalactites. It was so hard to even reach that point, that I got game over there, every time, loosing interest

Final Boss is Billy .. or Jimmy ... the blue one, not the red one ... but instead of 2-players-versus-each-other, it is this time player-vs-CPU, since there is no second player in that port. At least not at the same time. :problem:

And, last but not least, the funny alternative to Street Fighter: Double Dragon Versus matches with extra-big-chars and one Kick and one Punch. :shifty: We played that as a kid, Street Fighter 2 hasn't been invented yet.

Loved that port too.

Was about to say Double Dragon II on the NES is vastly superior to the arcade version, but after the last post maybe I am thinking of the first game (?). The NES version is much more responsive in controls and vibrant in the graphics department. Love it still.

This is not the same game. One by capcom was realeased based on upcoming movie AVP, which was unfortunately cancelled.
The SNES crap by Activision is a different game based on one of books ... it has nothing in common and it is not port of the AVP arcade. Btw the SNES version was realeased in 1993, the arcade by Capcom in 1994 ...
