Sega one looks good if a little too big, I'd have a strip like the Ergret 2 type of thing, but hay that's just the goyals taste

Agree with this whole heartedly, I think that "Micro City" flows a little bit better, that being said I think the blast would probably be your friend regarding design characteristics rather than the Astro simply for modern(er) aesthetics.
Striped side panels, albeit somewhat wider than traditional candy proportionally, say, around 4"? And by striped I mean a vertical stripe down the side of the cab following the curvature of the body , not go faster or pin stripe, think capcom impress. A full panel is too much aesthetically unless, like the capcomini it covers the ENTIRE side of the cab.

I'm not sure how well a wide stripe would look on it's own. I think it works well on the E2 as its aligned to the angle of the monitor which is at a fair angle from the vertical. As the front on these Sega cabs are near vertical there isn't really much of an angle at all.

Full side art, Capcom Cute stylee, was something I had considered too. Here's a mockup of that.

I'm not really a fan of the Blast City artwork, it's a bit 'hippy gone mad with a paint brush' for me. I would prefer something more basic and clean and so it's the Aero City (not Astro City) styling that I would like to base it on. I'd like to stick to a fairly simple blue/white/black palette and do something along the lines of this but maybe with a bit of a modern twist.



As for the name, I like like Mini City due to the assonance although Micro City does sound good too due to it ending in 'O' like the Astro/Aero. I think it's more Mini sized rather than Micro however.

This is gonna go way beyond awesome.

Sega City silver, Aero City bright blue, Astro City green, Blast City dark blue, Net City orange, New Net City grey.

I quite like the dedicated Cads and Dinos idea - much like Vics dedicated Driller theme. I wanted one before to do a dedicated TNZS. The body style and artwork space lends itself to big brash artwork.

Making a fake "City" cab ripping off the style of another one... Nah, not my thing. Doing a Psykick on it with full custom art and calling it "Mushi City" or something might work though.

I'm not really feeling the whole big sticker idea. The stripe could work, but I'd make it different somehow with funky angles (kinda difficult with this cab it seems). Strongly opposed to the giant SEGA sticker... hmm I am sounding like a total party-pooper.

Psykicks custom artwork was amazing on that cab and I would love to be able to do something like that but I don't have the artwork skills to pull it off. I'm going to need the help of someone to do the artwork for me and I can't expect them to plough endless hours into something really complex.

That's why I just want to do something simple and clean as it won't take as much development. It's going to be a fake cab whatever it is so I have no problem using a classic colour scheme from another cab.

Learn to make artwork? Keeping it simple rather than complex - none of the Sega stuff is complicated at all.

Yeah I think that one looks the best out of my crappy paint efforts Big decisions indeed. Still, there is no rush, that's why I wanted to get started on this now rather than leaving it until the end.

It's definitely a possibility and something I would love to be able to do, lack of time is the biggest killer at the moment though with everything else I have on. What might take me a few weeks to do whilst I'm learning might only take someone with skillzorz a few hours. I know some people like to trade skills, like the people doing stuff for me at the moment, so I thought I would see if any one fancied having a go in exchange for some parts/cash/whatever. If not then I'll have to sort something out myself

I have quite a bit of free time in the evenings at the moment.

If you can get the outlines of the bits you want drawn up (including positions of controls) I wouldn't mind having a mess around and seeing what I can come up with.

Thinking about it, I've probably got a last steady week on lates next week before I move to the new site for work so I may have a go at learning a little something myself too.

I've got the CP, and front plastics drawn, I just need to do the side profile and the front door. Guessing you'll want .eps's?

What would be a good program to have a play with, something like GIMP?

EPS is fine, or PDF.

Use Inkscape. Gimp is fine for editing photos and the like, but I'd never use it for artwork from scratch.

Gimp is a mess. Feels like drawing with my feet. It can do everything you could ask but the method is so unintuitive and inconsistent. A bad example of function over form.

I wouldn't use PS for the job either. Illustrator is more suited.

Gimp is great as an editor, but for creation I'd rather use MS Paint.
