Seeing as there is some interest on here also - here are some pics of mine so far.

Not as ambitious as Franco's...

Mock up of how it may look-

PCBs placed inside. I also managed to squeeze Tetris in on the lower shelf. Soon to be joined by Klax :awe:

Collected a few parts for the cabs recently:

Image

Wei-Ya PSUs obviously for the JAMMA side of things. I'm going to wire the C&D cab for JAMMA but seeing as I have a spare JVS IO and both cabs have tri-syncs I thought I would wire the generic Sega one for JAMMA and JVS. I can take 5v and 12v for the JVS side of things from the Wei-Ya PSUs but JVS also requires 3.3v so i picked up an adjustable 240VAC>3.3VDC transformer.

I also got a couple of 12v powered stereo amplifiers to run the speakers. The amplifiers come with 12v supplies but from what I've been reading they are not quite up to the job so I bought a couple of higher rated 240VAC>12VDC PSUs which are the two to the right of the amplifiers.

I'm planning on running the mono JAMMA audio through an attenuation circuit and then into that amplifiers as dual mono. I can then also run stereo boards though the amplifier too and control everything from one amp.

I've made a couple of boards to mount the PSUs to. I used the original mount as a drilling template so that I can bolt them to the bottom of the cabinet.

PSUs mounted:

Installed:

So, the current plan of action is to use the larger top shelf to mount the PCBs on which will leave the middle shelf free. I'm planning on making service panel on this shelf for the power/service/test buttons. I'm going to mount the monitor adjustment board to this and I'll also have a cut out for the amplifier controls. I'll put a voltmeter in the panel and also mount some RCA jacks in for the stereo games and have a 4PDT switch to switch between JAMMA dual mono and stereo.

I was going to relocate the voltage adjustment pots from the Wei-Ya and 3.3v PSUs to the service panel but I've mounted the PSUs so that they are pretty east to access and so that step's not necessary.

I've also sorted some other bits out but I need to pick up some plastics this week, along with peoples marquee materials, before I can do much more with it.

I had the same idea about this stack of system10 games.
I have gamshara too, but i'm searching for star trigon and chocovader contactee.
I'm using a multijamma board to switch between the games.
...sorry for the OT

I need to start to get some artwork together for the cabs so that it's ready in time for when I need it. Artwork really isn't my strong point so I could do with some input and advice from you guys if you don't mind.

Okay, so I'm planning on a Cadillacs Kyouryuu Shinseiki theme for one of the cabs and I would like to style the other one as if Sega did their own version of a Capcom Cute which I would like to call a 'Sega Mini City'.

I've had some help on the CKS artwork so far. Stomps wife vectorised the CKS logo for me. I've since found a better source image to work from so she's going to tweak it a little more for me:

Image

Spectre has also been working on some side art for me, this is where he's up to at the moment:

(oops, this image can't be resuscitated :( )

:awe:

Bryan (opt2not) is going to be helping me out with some CP and bezel etc graphics too :thumbupright:

I've done a veeeeeery rough mock up in paint of what it could look like on the side of the. I've also put the logo on the graphic where it might fit nicely.

Image

As I said this is very rough mock up just to try and get some ideas together. Any thoughts? As it is I think it would at least need some kind of border/edging as it looks a bit funky going all the way to the edge.

You can also see I've had a bit of a mess about with the 'Mini City' graphics. I'm thinking I'll probably just have the Sega logo on the side of that cab but I was trying to get some ideas for the rest of the artwork. I quite like the City logo with the 'Mini' in the yellow font, I think that could look quite nice on the front of the cab between the speakers.

On the whole I would like to keep the graphics on the Sega cab fairly simple, something like a slightly updated version of the Aero City graphics.

The CKS cab is going to stay horizontal all of the time but the Mini City has the rotatable monitor so I will need two front panels for this with graphics on each that I can swap over depending on the orientation.

Image

I think I'm good for people working on the CKS cab but if someone with art skillzorz fancies working with me on the Mini City graphics that would be great. I've paid/paying the people working on the CKS art with some of my parts etc and I'm more than happy to trade parts/cash/man love for your time with the Mini City art.

Any advice/input on any of the above would be great. A hell of a lot of work will have gone into these by the time they're finished and I would like them to look as good as possible. :)

I'll try and update the artwork progress as we go forward so I can get your collective thoughts.

Thanks all! :D

have you toyed with the idea if the background on cads been art being a whitish like the poster ?i think that may work better , hannah needs to be sexier but that is probably the source material fault :awe:

Yeah that could be a good idea, I need to make an .eps of the side profile so that Spectre has something decent to work with.

Don't sweat dude, I think [this] is the source material which was made from the original source [here] :)

Olly kindly sent me a hi-res scan of an original instruction strip for C&D, this is a quick screen grab of it:

Image

I was thinking we could possibly get a simplified Japanese version translated/made and we could possibly put it on the front plastics just under the screen.

I can't really take any kind of credit for the awesomeness of the sideart, I'm just colouring it for Franco, I didn't draw it!

Sega one looks good if a little too big, I'd have a strip like the Ergret 2 type of thing, but hay that's just the goyals taste :awe:

Agree with this whole heartedly, I think that "Micro City" flows a little bit better, that being said I think the blast would probably be your friend regarding design characteristics rather than the Astro simply for modern(er) aesthetics.
Striped side panels, albeit somewhat wider than traditional candy proportionally, say, around 4"? And by striped I mean a vertical stripe down the side of the cab following the curvature of the body , not go faster or pin stripe, think capcom impress. A full panel is too much aesthetically unless, like the capcomini it covers the ENTIRE side of the cab.
