Got mine yesterday as it was lost at work for 4 days, plug it all in at the network wouldnt work, turns out I had to fix the IP, ok no problemo, fire it up again and it got a update... went to bed at 10:30 and it was still only half download, this was like 2 hours later and I have a 60Mbps line... finished this morning, put in Mario, 10 minutes for a update, then it wants me to setup some bloody Wii crap... turned off and came to work... OMG its like a PS3...

Guna have a lot of really sad kids Christmas day watching there Wii U updating for like 6 hours... Nintendo, what have you done!!

Controller seems nice though, though I here you cant play any virtual console games on it, they have to be on the TV, anybody confirm??? that would be such a ****...

My update took about 35 mins tops.

In reality you would all be best warned to do your update prior to xmas day..... these servers are going to be on their knees that day imo.

Logically I would suggest that if you have no internet it will be as it is. The update is only searched for once you have set-up your connection settings. No internet, no connection settings and no update.

There is a new update right now so I imagine there might be more prior to xmas. If you plan to run updates before xmas morning I'd hold off until closer to the day just in case there are more.

I have Virgin Media Super Hub, and it seems this has some issues with the Wii U, though it sounds like a few other routers do also, so I would update it before Xmas, else you may be disappointed, if you really dont want to, then maybe check the web see if your router is effected by sloooowness... mine is horrible, just stuck in Nintendo Land... updating as we speak, time to compete update is now 11 minutes, and its about half way through... again though this does not seem to effect all routers...

Overall though pretty sweet unit, the controller is amazingly light and looks fantastic... the shoot um up they have on the download service is mighty nice also...

I just transferred my stuff from the Wii, pain in the but, but the transfer screens really raised a smile, haha brilliant, you have to watch it when you transfer stuff, I am soo disappointed though that I cant play my virtual console stuff on the controller, that really is a kick in the old pants... cause you have to play all this old stuff via the old Wii menu, and this only works with you old pointy controller.... I hope they fix that.... Ooo I dooo.

I quite liked both of your wii u videos.

I never played my wii much and ended up selling it years ago, but i would really like to try mario u. Seems to be about as good as the original mario world on the snes.
Wanted: SNK Candy 18 spares. Mainly looking for a marquee holder & the "video games" sign.

Yer the new Mario is pretty much the most classic feeling to me, really well done... little bit dull I guess cuz you have kinda seen it all before, but if you stick together all the best bits, well you get the new Mario :)

I am loving the new handheld screen though, really light, very neat...

Looks like I'm not out of the woods with new gen consoles as I'm starting to want this. Must resist....

I hate not getting the latest mario game. I feel like I'm missing out, which I am :(

Per my posts in the platform game thread, I'm not a Nintendo fan. I like some of their games, but don't like a lot of others.

NSMBU is pretty close to being a Super Mario World sequel, which makes it an instant hit with me. :awe:
