These are the bees knees. While I still love the SUZO 500, this is better actually. If only the slight dead-zone wobble of the LS-32 could be remedied somehow it would be wonderful. The SUZO 500 still has that advantage, but it has far more flaws than an LS-32 with Franco's parts inside (oo-eer).

Francos parts inside your stick?

There's a term for that.

That's good to hear- my first experiences with an LS-32-01 were disappointing as it's said to be the shmup stick of choice but it didn't feel as precise as I'd expected it to be. Were the flaws you'd experienced with the SUZO related to the switches requiring reseating after installation, as described on your site? I'll probably get one anyway, as playing DoDonPachi with one was something of a revelation and the soldering required for a 5-pin harness isn't beyond even my fledgling capabilities.

Fingers crossed for these parts in future, though- provided Franco's don't freeze over winter. ;)

This little mod will sell like hotcakes. I'm sure after a the first batch is sold out, FrancoB can afford one of those muffs with a fake doll included.

Please excuse me for bumping this thread, but I just wanted to know: were these magic parts avaliable to public already??? I'm really interested in this, I'm a fight game player (mainly Virtua Fighter and Vampire Savior), and my main complain with all kind of japanese sticks is the long throw and engage distance, and the lack of a firm return to neutral position. Would love to hear how much you are asking for a pair of sets :-)

I'm afraid I stopped working on this as I found I wasn't going to be able to release a product that I was satisfied with.

The main issue is that the LS-32 doesn't seem to have been manufactured to tight enough tolerances on the whole and the repeatability of the critical dimensions just doesn't seem consistent.

This meant that my parts would work great in some sticks but not so great in others. The high tolerance nature of my mod means that I needed a stick with similar repeatable and tight tolerances to start with and I'm afraid the LS-32 just isn't that stick. I could have increased the post actuation throw to account for the inconsistencies between sticks but then you are just moving back towards a baggy stock stick. Another remedy may have been to bend/tweek the microswitch levers in each LS-32 but it's not something I could do for the end user and so it wasn't an option for me.

I picked up some LS-56-01s recently that I am quite impressed with. They use a different type of pivot to the LS-32 and so have no centre wobble at all unlike the LS-32. The stock engage distance is actually pretty tight too. The only downside I have found to them so far is the post actuation throw which is pretty huge in comparison to what it could be. This can easily be solved by using a smaller restrictor and this is something that I am working on at the moment.

The LS-40 is also meant to be a good stick from what I have read. It sounds similar to the LS-32 but with tighter engage distances and without the pivoting problems of the LS-32. I want to pick a couple of these up to try out too.

That's a shame. I'd still be interested in an LS-56-01 restrictor though- are you planning to make square or octagonal ones?

:( That's ok, I'll try to work a way then to fix these issues with the LS-32, and yeah I want to try some of these sticks, too! If you have luck with the LS-56 mod then please consider selling me the mod parts :-)
