Great post. That was my experience with DS too. Its a bit meh at first but really opens up when you get into it.@Alaska- wrote: I think the game really shine when you go for score.
When you go for score, the game change its face and it's no more dodging and destroying. (at least, not only)
I had a friend of mine last week who was in doubt about playing the game or not .
After a couple of minute it was like O__________O
the game is full of possibilities.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
That was the reason I got rid of it. Even on level 3, and knowing how to recharge and score optimally, the first few levels get extremely boring.@Alaska- wrote:The problem with ds is that it's not very difficult to beat the game if you don't look for score.
Not saying it's boring, if you go trough ex-stage unlocking the true death mode,
then the 2 final stage would be very challenging per-se.
Vastly prefer shmups where you have to be on your toes from the very start - instead of the game only getting difficult after ten minutes of play.

Cools, bang on there. That's why I love DOJ and Ibara, from the off you've got to be at the races. You can just get a quick hit rather than a gradual build up. I've got a soft spot for Espgaluda, but that's more of a Sunday afternoon game

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou
Hmm, I have the same issue with DOJ.
Ibara may not be as brutal with rank as Batrider and Garegga (the rank rollover through credits is minimal compared to those) but the mere fact it has a medal/item drop rollover tips the balance from samey to

Which games do you own that fall into that category?cools wrote:

Reason I ask, I don't own any games that start off brutal.
Just wondering which ones do, in your opinion.

not much people playing it. short line and not much time to wait from each play.

I seem to like this game more as I see more of it.
Not saying it's gonna revolutionize the genre, but it looks good.
Too bad I won't be able to afford it for a few years.

This is true; I've likely underestimated the insanity of the average Cave fan.LoRez wrote:The same people that will then go on to buy Ver1.5 and then BL a couple of months after thatkazuo wrote:Offer came through today. Pang: I expect a console port within 6-9 months at most. I won't be surprised to see it as a XBLA release.
