Nice setup man!
:awe: The 3000 LE is so nice. I got #711. Internal compact flash reader, new backlight, and the new Valaxi OS.

Did we ever determine if this thing is in fact a knockoff or a legit Taito product, just made in China on the cheap for the cheap?

I know Neo_Arcadia hinted at some things but never elaborated for whatever reason.

Sucks that it doesn't have DVI in, even the real knockoff Chinese cabs have DVI... :(

Guess it's time to update this subject with some facts, based on the fact I had the opportunity to put my hands on the last version of a Japanese Vewlix L:

- The cases are the same.

- The screen is also a Wei-Ya with a Samsung panel, but in place of the CGA port it has a DVI port. The screen OSD list DVI and VGA as possible inputs, and let the user choose between the two.

- All the inside electronics are different, in the same way than with previous official Japanese Vewlix and Chinese knockoffs.

I won't say for sure the Chinese Vewlix are knockoffs, but at least, you now have comparison facts to make up your own idea on the subject.

And not a fact but could become one: when looking the CGA on the Chinese one, it looks like an unofficial hack but we would need pictures from the Chinese OSD to have more elements about this subject, so I won't count this sentence as a fact. Maybe Cell would give us pictures of all the OSD menus?

Edit: added some informations which are not facts.

Though I have not seen it myself, it would not surprise me if the 15KHz was done through that Chinese-made VGA scaler.

It doesn't look that bad (but I guess looks can be deceiving) - was there anything else notably bad about it?

Hey guys, 1st post on these boards!

I apologize if this is not relevant to the OP:

Are the Vewlix VS built differently from the L series? Or are they just parts from (2) L series put into a dual cabinet?

They're two L's fused together. Similar to the VS City concept.

Aww man, :| I was considering ordering a VS with (2)Taito X2 and AE 2012 for my new arcade center.

I was actually considering switching out the stock LCD to a higher definition LCD...any ideas/suggestions?

A higher res LCD would be a bad choice. These games run at 720p. A 1080p screen may introduce delay from scaling.
FWIW, the new arcade in Brooklyn uses those knockoff New Delta cabs. I think a Vewlix VS would look a bit classier. But that's just my opinion.

I see... Good to know thanks! Would you say the stock LCDs are good quality? According to Cell's snapshots they seemed legitimate in picture quality.
And I do agree the Vewlix VS models look much classier. hahah :D

Sorry, which cab are you asking about? There's 3 different cabs discussed in your last comment and I want to make sure I talk about the right one.
