The official Akuma's awesome Super Neo 29 topic

Post by Akuma »

10 hours until I got the appointment to pick it up. Oh damn, I can't wait! I guess it will be an awful night - hopefully I'll eventually fall asleep and won't suffer from insomnia but since I know myself pretty well, I am sure I will : /

I just checked and the weather forecast foresees only a 1% chance of rainy weather, so I should be lucky there. : )

Will take pics as soon as I got it home. Too bad the MVS won't arrive in time but I got an ST-V MoBo with VF Remix to test it : )

Well done mate I'm happy for you. I love those "before you get it" moments when you are all exited and cannot sleep, you start thinking when you were a kid and promised yourself one day you'd get a cabinet for yourself. They said you were crazy, they said it was impossible to have an arcade cabinet in your room. But guess what, you never stopped dreaming and now the dreams come true. And they were WRONG. GO GO GO!

Counter is at 43081 - a question to the people who have moire experience with (candy) cabs - compared to a car's mileage, is 43081 much, mediocre or little? The owner said he never used any coins on it...
DSCF0012.JPG
What the? This one was hidden in the back of the bottom compartment:
Manual.jpg
He didn't mention it - neither in the auction text nor at pick up - could this be that he hasn't seen it during the 2 or 3 years that he got it in his posession??

Anyway - coool!

At work, I got an A3 scanner so I will be able to scan it and actually give something back to our Arcade community! : )

I have a similar Super Neo 29 cab with the same counter mine reads 15806.

Could you please measure the length of the lock that holds the CP in place as in this pic below, it was mentioned by someone that it was 22 mm but I have just tried one and it is much too short. I would think nearer 30 or 40mm

Thanks

Very nice cab by the way ;)

I spy a vacuum cleaner being used on the cab! ;)

So... It was a Super Neo 29, with a HNG CP. I'm pleased to see the select button hole - there weren't any Hyper multi-slots so SNK clearly had backwards compatibility in mind :)

The HNG CP comes from the Super Neo 29 Type II which only came with Hyper markings: http://castleofcollectibles.com/press/f ... er5029.jpg

It definitely was put there afterwards as this plastic is much whiter than the monitor and marquee - that's why I am desperately looking for an original CP - a one player CP would be cool too as I am playing alone 97% of the time, I see no point in sitting in the "corner" ; )

That's my "37 inch mini Megalo" aka 'Project M' - http://www.arcadeotaku.com/forum/viewto ... f=6&t=1992

Of course only for those who have the skills, otherwise stay in the dark and only hookup an MVS board! Btw I have the old Seimitsu sticks that were in the CP, they are clunky and completely suck, but hey those are the originals. If you don't want them, maybe Kernow will, or don't you have a Neo 29? ;) :P

Uhoh, do I sense bad blood right there? Maybe Kernow's joke was a bit mean ; ) My Seimitsu sticks are a bit stuck aswell but I like the seimitsu joysticks as much as Sanwa sticks so now I'll need to find a good place to buy Seimitsu LS-40-01s ; )

I'm gonna take some more pics in a couple of minutes now. I was so happy that I eventually got a bad headache and had to sleep a bit (man, that's soooo gay ; ) - but that often happens to me, if I am so happy about something. At the age of 10, I was so happy about getting Megaman 2 on Gameboy that I became sick and almost had to throw up... : )
