If you refer as to why Hispanic versions are as such, answer is simple... to precisely keep markets separated between Mexico and all Latin America and the US, because of prices and language probably.

If you mean why Capcom Mexico used hispanic tables for a US blue case, well it might be as simple as "that is what they had available".

I have around 20 CPS2 games here, acquired in Mexico.. All of them have A boards attached, they used to sell them as units and people kept them as such. Or probably, operators could only afford one game and kept it as a unit all the time.

its almost like the board is from three different regions!? japanese labelling, US color scheme, and asian/hispanic PCB characteristics. its some kinda monster...works great though. just got done beating akuma on the hardest setting.

:D Seems like a hispanic or asian setup which had a blue shell slapped on it.

Quite the confused board

its definitly a US version. win quotes are english and cammy and deejay's specials are the US versions, "cannon drill, thrust kick, and max out" respectively.

Would be easy enough to make an adapter for that - parts are made by Hirose I believe. Not sure on part number though.

mikeidge wrote:ok. so i just got what i think is the last one that this seller had. it is odd, but legit i am sure. mine has the strange japanese "A" board with blue buttons, and a homebrew sticker on the "B" board. it also had the original warranty seals intact but i did away with those to swap the battery(still had the original as well). but the wierdest thing is that the A and B boards have to be used together. one of the 4 connections on both boards are reversed and then what looks like a coupling, that doesnt come off, is used between them. the pictures tell the tale...
Mine is exactly the same, Japanese A-board with a green label but with blue buttons; blue B-board with Japanese characters on the serial number label, laser-printed game label, USA region ROMs, all sealed with silver Capcom stickers.

The only difference is mine has normal Euro/USA/Japan style connectors. Yep, Capcom México used any available inventory to make these frankenboards. :awe:

Looks like you've got yourself a unique piece of Capcom history.

On a related note, I've seen a few other CPS2 games that have different Mask ROM arrangements and/or daughter boards. Manufacturers aren't too fussy about everything matching. If it works... It works. :awe:

It's legit, you can tell by the mask ROMs. MAME also contains a US HSF2AE dump.

I can't believe you're selling one of the best arcade games of all time.

I'm keeping mine forever. In fact, I might buy yours and then I can rub two together and make kissing noises. :awe:

I can't think of a single time when I've messaged the seller of a "US-only" item asking them if they'd be willing to ship to the UK and they've declined. Result has always been to the effect of, "Sure, no problem, I'll do it for X dollars."

Shame if that's not the case here though. ;)
