Any updates?..Just curious why did it take them so long?..Was the 2200 ship to your door all fees paid for?..
Thinking of buying a cab off them.

Wow, you have been waiting 4 months for your Cab?
You are a better person than me, there is no way I could wait that long for my cab. I hope everything is good to go when you get it.

My Lind shooter has a glass covering over the screen too, makes it look a lot better than just a plain tv lcd.

A member on SRK bought a clone off coinop also:

They have no Fs but good prices on the black Ls. Still hoping to get some info on the clone's LCD input lag.

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
Sorry its taken me like 2 weeks to put this up, and I am over on SRK too, Cell saw my posts =)
Its awesome, I just need help finding a replacement panel that isnt 400 bucks USD. - I'd like a black/grey 2 player panel for 200.
Also looking for suggestions for the moves list area, and the marquee between the speakers on the top.....
Currently running my Xbox 360, and my Alpha 3 board. (looking for a cheap mvs system to start me on Neo cart collecting again)

Is that remote actually for the screen? How many inputs does it have?
Also how was shipping with coinopexpress? I live (not too) far from you and was thinking about getting one, but I've heard all the same horror stories about them as everyone else, and was wondering what your experience was?

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
Honestly, the only horror I had, was that no one told me about the broker to accept the shipment into the US, and then the local warehouse to hold it, and customs fees.
They are not mean, evil people out to get you and ruin your experience, i've ordered two cabs from them, sold the Tekken 6 clone, and got this Vewlix clone.
I say, save 300 for unknown fees and order it today!
The monitor has PC (VGA), HDMI, 2 RCA, an S-Video and one other.... I think.
The remote works for the monitor, and it seems it has a tuner (not sure if it's digi, or analog), but the signal is so weak, I have to keep the front door open to get the remote to work.
Just ask every possible question here, then make a list, and dont compromise on options when you order. (also consider getting a one player panel when you order, as I regret not getting one then...)
They want 180 for a single player panel shipped, prolly coulda saved on shipping if I ordered it with the cab.... anyone selling vewlix panels ?
Oh, and where would I order the plastic bits for the sides ? - not sure I wanna spend the money, but perhaps if I sell off some of my old boards and stuff.

Oh, I have no doubt that they're not mean, evil people. Just mostly language issues and that you have to be very specific with them and leave nothing up to interpretation.
The save $300 for unforeseen expenses sounds like good advice. And while I'd love to order it right this very minute there are two things holding me back. One, the cab isn't actually for me personally; not much into fighters. And two, I'd be drawing to an empty bank account, which I'm sure is bad for business

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
Also just thought of something, If you live near the port of acceptance (LA, or NY, or NJ even) - you may be able to dodge some of the unexpected fees, and pick it up from the docks on arrival (after the importer has received the shipment).
The vewlix clones are great because you can swap the display to a vertical set up fro shooters, and metal slug looked great on my old Namco Noir (tekken 6 cab) clone.

I do live just 20 minutes from NYC, though I'm not sure that it will help me dodge any fees, considering I'd have to bribe friends with trucksNamhas wrote:Also just thought of something, If you live near the port of acceptance (LA, or NY, or NJ even) - you may be able to dodge some of the unexpected fees, and pick it up from the docks on arrival (after the importer has received the shipment).

I am certain however that there is no way I'd be playing vert shooters on it, just seems unnatural to be playing Cave and Raizing games on it.

You guys that got cabs from Coinop, did you also get insurance? Seems if you depreciate the value for customs that insurance would be less. But if they crate it, it seems pretty safe. Did both of you recieve cabs in crates and in perfect shape?

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
My cab was in perfect shape when it arrived, and I did ask them to devalue the invoice to save on custom fees.
Namhas... I see you got it finally! Have you installed the S-brackets, and if so, am I correct in that once drilled they make the joysticks sit perfectly?
Your cab is slightly different, though. You have all pink/green buttons... My buttons are all white, although my balltops are colored. Either way, no matter. Mine also has 2 HDMI inputs... does yours as well? Trying to figure if it's the same monitor. I know mine is a Sharp, but I forget the model number now.
I hope you're liking yours. The only minor issue is the speakers, but that's an easy easy fix.
I agree though, coinopexpress was great for me... I would recommend them to anyone who knew what they were doing.

Thanks Namhas and evitagen for the info and pics. Anyone in the states interested in a group buy of Vewlix clones, even if savings are around $200?

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
I'd order another in a heartbeat, my bank account would suffer and my wife would beat me severly, but I am thinking of trying to get a new net city, or similar sit down small foot print cab, universal naomi comes to mind..... Cell did a sweet restoration and has pics on his blog.
Yes, the S brackets make the difference... one was a little off, and i had to modify it, but they are both working great now.

I also ended up getting a Chinese Vewlix L offered by Coinop. I posted a ton of pics and my thoughts on it:

Re: Questions concerning the Vewlix and/or Vewlix clones.
Hi i know im a bit late to the party but wondering if you can give me the details to the guy who makes the pcb that connects PC/PS3 to jvs connectors. I tired clicking on the link but no go. Im getting my vewlix on 26 FEB 2013 and would like to hookup my PS3 to it. I was a little worried after not being able to find any ways of doin so. The shadoloo website in Holland has a working solution but is exspensive at 150 euros. I wonder if yyou know if there is any lag in using the ps3 - jvs convertors too?pubjoe wrote:Yes. The vewlix (+clones I expect) is a pretty easy cab to hook consoles or a PC up to. In fact, as they were built with modern arcade hardware in mind, they are basically already designed to run a PC. The lcd has a vga input and the speakers/amp have a (headphone type) phono input. You only need to worry about wiring the controls up. You can hook up a PC and a PS3 straight to the JVS connectors by using the excellent jvs-pac - which is created by invzim, who can be contacted on these boards. It costs around $50-$60 I think. I don't think the jvs-pac does the xbox360 though (?) ...In which case you would need to do a pad hack (get a soldering iron to a cheapo madkatz joypad), or purchase a (no soldering required) cttulhu for $50 from toodles here.
As for your choice of cab. I think it's extremely unlikely that you'll ever find a genuine vewlix for $2000. Maybe if you could up your budget to around $3000 you could find a good condition second hand one after a lot of hunting and patience. You'll also need a bit of luck. As this is still an uncommon cab to find second hand, there are only a few used vewli' that have moved hands. There is no second hand market value established really and the pricing entirely depends on the seller's own need to sell. Considering many people paid over $6500 for one in the first place, if they don't want to sell it for less than $4500 or more, they are not wrong to do so. Also, if your lucky enough to find someone who 'needs' to get rid of one and is prepared to take $2500, they're not wrong either. Anyone who tries to tell you exactly what a second hand vewlix is "worth" is only giving you a personal opinion really. There are only a few home users looking for one and, fortunately for you, that means they can sometimes be sold for well below what they "should" be worth ....and also, unfortunately for you, it means that people often pay well above what they "should" be worth due to them being so hard to find. This is why you'll need luck and patience if you specifically want a vewlix.
But anyway, just so you know, for comparison's sake, the current price for a brand new vewlix F (which has recently been discounted from 500k apparently) is 360,000 yen I believe (4,131.24 USD). But due to shipping and currency conversion, they are still considered to be worth around $5,000 to anyone outside of Japan. ...Even so, maybe you can use "$4,150 brand new" as a haggling point for a second hand one.
In case you haven't already - a search for "vewlix" right here will give you a lot of information. Be sure to read up on the differences between the vewlix L and F models. The prices discussed here will be a little out of date though, so bear that in mind.
As for the clones, I hope someone else can advise you on this. But I have heard that some of the clones are apparently VERY good (structure-wise) and can be found for around $1500-$2000. On the other hand, some clones are likely garbage. So try to get as much information as you can and don't just buy the first one that comes along. Hopefully some people who have actually seen/used/owned any of the various clones can add some input here for you.
Good luck.
Also im a bit worried that my vewlix will suffer from not having a PS button. Like i read in this thread someone mentions the possiblity of adding a third pad and using that as the PS button. Wonder if u might have a less ugly and obtrusive solution?
