ZG2 has frozen again tonight and now the cart isn't recognised again. This game has done this from the moment I received it and all my other Naomi games are fine.

I even tried bolting it down with the recommended screws and it still errors.
Have you had the other games running in the mobo for as long as this game?

Other than trying it in another mobo to be sure, not alot else to do tbh but the cart sounds decidedly flaky mate.

PM'ed the seller who suggested trying in another set up.

Guess that's all I can do.

Nope. Waiting on seller to get back to me but may need to send it off to someone.

Hey chop, assuming the seller does not get back with an alternative - you fancy playing some ZG2 for a few days?

It sounds a like it might be a thermal issue on the motherboard, if its freezing after a while.

If you're tweaking voltages though I'd do it without a cart in the mobo

Can you get to the test menu and see the ROM checksums even though you get the Error 01?

If you do and the ROMs are testing bad then you may have some flaky buffer chips on the cart. I fixed a MvC2 cart that was doing the same thing by replacing the buffers. The guy kept running it at 5.2v and I kept telling him to stop it. He finally did after a $60 repair bill and at 5.1v it has been running for over a year now with the new buffer chips.
I'm a cheap ****. I learned to repair things to save money... even surface mount soldering!

My repair logs have moved to here. Enjoy!

Found this thread because my new-to-me ZG2 also got the error despite all my other games working fine. I notice the case seems to be slightly larger and makes for a tougher fit. After significant force, it works. Cheers!

EDIT I think I will remove this one from the case to ensure proper contact.

I think its the edges of the plastic case that makes certain carts a tight fit. You can rub them down with some very fine sand paper to improve things, if you're not overly anal about cosmetic condition of course!
