Consolized MVS

Post by Soundwave »

Morning all,

Whats the current rate to buy a Consolized MVS setup???

I'm getting some pennies for christmas from the parents & I'm considering trying to pick one up in the New Year for some classic MVS goodness.

So how much should I expect to pay for a good one with at least one controller??

Ta in advance

Lol I wish.

No most liekly I'll be on the recieving end of £100-£150 ($163-$245) so I was hoping that they'd be more available in that price range.

Will have to keep an eye on Egay & see what comes up I guess.

Why don't you buy a cheapo supergun and use it with MVS hdw? Should cost you way less than $360.

Seems massively overpriced in my eyes. Would've been an entirely different beast if it had a good looking custom enclosure, but is-is there is absolutely nothing special about it.

I have looked for Superguns but I know if I buy one then I'll start buying PCB's & I'm really not that up on how they work & I deffinitley dont have the space to store them safely so trying to stay away from them until I can afford a proper cab & have storage space.

MVS is a nice way to play the Neo Geo stuff cheaper & like Mayhem said they can bought in nice neat packages so dont look totally out of place in amongst my consoles ;)

At least Neotropolis powder coated multislots looks a whole lot nicer, though they are probably ungodly expensive considering what he charges for the dead simple consolizations. Been tempted many times to consolize an MVS myself then discarded the idea when remembering I don't care much for many games on the system anyway. Would still like to make one whenever I finish a few of the projects I've already started... :ugeek:

The "pcb" jobs? Not wired for mvs controls. Admittedly it should be reasonably easy to fix that, but some of us can't solder for ****

edit: the mkII seems setup for mvs (stereo, test switch) but doesn't confirm if all 4 buttons work.

Additionally a lot of lcd's won't accept or display a sub 480i signal properly at all, even over Rgb scart. Something to research before buying retro devices if you need rgb scart and have no crt

Soundwave,

I know a guy in Belgium who consolizes 2 slot MVS-s. A 2 slot MVS setup is by far the best option imo: stereo, memory card slots and joystick ports. Plus you can choose any color to spray it in. I had mine fixed a few years ago, it looks like this:

The neon tube is an option ;), if you think it's too disco you just leave it out.

The 2 slot will be sprayed in your chosen color, 3 rgb pods will be on the front, illuminated on/off switch, and coin and credit counters. rgb and power output on the back of the 2 slot, and optional stereo output. Of course with the latest unibios. I think it will cost you about 200-250 euro, but then you'll have a real great setup. Also, you will get a new RGB cable with it plus a new power supply, the guy will make sure that you will have a fully working setup on delivery.

Also, still usable in a cab, fully JAMMA compatible. Some conzolise jobs are directly soldered to the JAMMA plug so it can't be used in a cab. This baby still runs in any JAMMA cab.

You can customise it as you like. If you're interested, i will give you his contact details. If you send him your own 2 slot to consolise it btw, it'll be cheaper.

Wow that is seriosuly nice.

Quite tempted now especially with that sort of setup possible.

I'm still in the process of saving towards either one of these or a Sigma Raijin supergun so once I know what I've got to spend I'll pop you a PM for his details.

To tempt you more, here are some additional, more recent pics :D . I made a box for it just after i got it, so i can store it without damaging. For that reason i also mounted a plexiglass plate underneath. Great about the CMVS is that you can just leave it as a console, whilst a supergun you will disconnect most of the time.

Damn thats SO pretty, love the custom box work :D :D

I know what you mean I dont have the space to leave a Sigma Supergun up all the time so I reckon it will be away more than it's used.

Whats the power pack like on yours or is it all built in as well??

Seriously tempted now.

Once I've got my PS3 I do think one of these will be my next purchase now.

Power supply is external, just a rather small one, not like a big pc power supply. It's like this:

Excellent stuff...so it's not much bigger than my SNES one :)

Had visions it would be mahoosive like my 360 one or the PC size one's you sometimes see with Superguns on Egay.

Getting more & more tempted as the days go on...do I really need the PS3??? ;)
