Do you need to discharge the monitor / remove the chassis?
Has anyone taken any pictures of the process?
I’m going to be moving the E2 back down some stairs. Last time I just humped up the whole cab, but my frieds (sick of constantly moving cabs) have now been introduce to a monitorless shell & are more willing to help move an empty cab. This is easy for me to do if the cab has a sega frame, but frameless = me scared
So I can potentially remove the tube, chassis & rotate mech in situ?
Not to drag this too OT, the sega cabs are great for this. I can get the blast (the one with convergence issues) out of the cab, sitting at the foot of the cab running
I should be able to sort the last bit of convergence when I have more time.

2007, on KC, 3 months after getting my AWSD from the WPG order, I get a shiny ibara (!) pcb and decide to try rotating the cab, needless to say it ended up in smash, fail and £300 to get a replacement tube, and pay for mr megalo to drive down with it and fit it. I guess the only benefit being he delivered another AWSD at the same time and I had one dedicated vert.
In all honestly I'm quite glad I necked it in the end
Errk! Did the tube bang?
I waited about 10 years for my Mum and Dad to get a new TV so I could have their 28 inch CRT TV for my Amiga. I wasn't happy with the picture so I ripped the back off and started tweaking. My mate came around the same day, sat on the chair behind it and snapped the neck off. It didn't make a sound but there was a bunch of black marks on the tube. I could have killed him
When I sprayed my cab I while back,I removed the monitor and the chassis all in one, like Kern say's it's only a few screws...honestly it not that hard or heavy..
Ross, did you just pull the full thing, rotate mech, chassis, tube and all?
Nope, you disconnect the chassis and leave it in there. You certainly don't wanna be trying to take the rotate out as well as it weighs considerably more than you'd think.
Just discharge, pull neckboard and wires, and pull the tube alone. Just be careful and keep an eye on teh neck at all times. Have a duvet on the floor ready to lay the monitor face-down onto.

Thanks Ross. THis will be my first discharge
It's easy. Just touch your tongue against a metal surface, then stick the tip of your johnson under the anode cap.

or strongman
personally I'd have only removed the tube but if you're spraying it I guess you'd want to remove the lot. in one go though! mad!
I did have a extra pair of hands to help me tho,but now I think about it...
I can't have my EGRET IIs in my new flat, so I'm forced to store them at a friends house. Typically, we have to carry them up some rather narrow and winding stairs, so they need to be stripped to a slimmer weight. How much weight loss can we get from removing the tube alone? Should I remove the rotation mech as well?
I've never had to discharge a monitor as of yet, so I'm not too happy about this whole "adventure".
Can anyone with hands on experience of removing the whole thing in one go please right a step-by-step guide of sorts?
What I consider to be the safest and what has worked best for me is to remove the tube together with the rotation system, so there is less risk to the neck. When removing the screws that hold the wood, the lower metal lip continues to hold the assembly and being 2 people it comes out easily.
