Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
So? It is the way it is supposed to be. HSF is all about playing any SF2 version of a character the way they were in the respective original game.Tetsuosan wrote:^ His pyscho crusher is still 50/50.
Does it mean it is HSF might result unbalanced in some instances? Of course (especially with CE Bison and CE Guile). But in the end you can easily handle this. That’s how you do it:
1P
ST vs ST (obviously) or (to keep it even more challenging)
Super vs ST (all characters but S Sagat) or
Any weaker version vs ST or (if you are gay)
Any version vs ST (not technical, just to have fun and check out the various differences)
2P
ST vs ST or
Generally speaking- same version vs same version (unless mutually agreed with your fat friend)
As said this game is more for SF2 hardcore players who are lucky enough to have friends who haven’t made the biggest mistake of their life and haven’t gotten married yet.

I sure get this impression! Granted, my girlfriend is a huge gamer.... but even so, I'm not having kids 'til I'm something near 35, and not getting married 'til shortly before that. It's just not happening.John James Pacinelli wrote: As said this game is more for SF2 hardcore players who are lucky enough to have friends who haven’t made the biggest mistake of their life and haven’t gotten married yet.

I know. I still can only dream of encompassing as much win as JJP, but I don't have it too bad.

Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
Well, here goes. It's very legit, complete with silver Capcom seals over the screws, but it has a few oddities.
USA blue case, but serial number label has the kanji characters usually found on green boards:

Capcom labels on EPROMs are hand-written:

Suicide battery has a date of manufacture of 1994, so either old battery stock (they have a ten year shelf life) or a recycled board (most likely). I replaced the battery just to be on the safe side.
Additionally, the accompanying A-board has blue volume/test buttons, but a green Japan label on the top.
All this would suggest to me that these boards were manufactured out of whatever random parts Capcom had sitting around.
Here's the mask ROMs, the print on each ROM does indeed say "HS2", so again seem genuine:

Just as I told you man. Here in Mexico it was very common for Capcom to recycle boards and also to mix and match cases.

Yep, didn't doubt you at all mate, just thought some visual documentation would be useful to have on here.Artemio wrote:Just as I told you man. Here in Mexico it was very common for Capcom to recycle boards and also to mix and match cases.

Gotta love Capcom's frankenboards though.

Artemio, once we work out how to revive CPS3 carts, it would be interesting to see if it's possible to reprogram CPS2 security data.

That would be great. I've heard rumors of equipment Capcom Mexico had to do just that... but I really doubt they are true. Shady stuff.idc wrote: Artemio, once we work out how to revive CPS3 carts, it would be interesting to see if it's possible to reprogram CPS2 security data.

"Capcom mexico close and the equipment unfortly lose in the garbage."
Shame. Unless anyone went searching through their dumpsters at the time then I guess we're SOL.

Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
My HSF2 board didn't have a sticker so I made one.
I know the colour and typeface are slightly out, can someone with a board take a photo/scan to compare. Cheers.
edit, had to upload a scaled down version.

Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
ok. so i just got what i think is the last one that this seller had. it is odd, but legit i am sure. mine has the strange japanese "A" board with blue buttons, and a homebrew sticker on the "B" board. it also had the original warranty seals intact but i did away with those to swap the battery(still had the original as well). but the wierdest thing is that the A and B boards have to be used together. one of the 4 connections on both boards are reversed and then what looks like a coupling, that doesnt come off, is used between them. the pictures tell the tale...

Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
It is a typical hispanic/Asian board, that is the way they are coupled. Probably Capcom used an A/B pair from hispanic tablets and converted them officially, as they did with tons of boards.

Re: is this hyper sf board for real?
at first, i thought i had ripped the connector of the A board off the PCB, but when i looked inside the A, i was suprised to see a reversed connector inside. why would they do this? it defeats the purpose of being able to easily swap out games no?
