Outrun 2 Sitdown Driver

Post by Pete »

Popular conversion at the moment it seams & I'd thought I'd use ID as it makes a good cheap way to get a Sega Universal driver cab:

Here is how it started:

Image

Whilst ID is not a bad game, its also not really a quick blast kinda game like OR2 & artwork...well  not to mention the bus steering wheel :wtf:

Time to tidy things up inside:

Add a RJ45 splitter for easy unplugging of the .net cable:

Image

Add 1 Chihiro & .net dimm for easy game loading: ;)

Image

Personally I'm not a fan of coin towers for home use & the monitor remote board placement was horrendous so its all been moved to the side for ease of use:

Image

Here is how she stands now, next to my New Astro City which is just visible:

Next phase...

First up take some sides:

Apply some art & screw to the upper base:

Image

Finish the re-build, put the new dash on inc wheel, apply yet more art ect & there you have it:

Image

Few things left to do to complete:

Apply the art to the seat back & put it back on, needs a bit of trimming as art is JPN spec.
Get a shifter upper plastic.
Sort out the lit topper & marquee (MCS).

Coming along nicely :awe:

Used soap & water, still pain though

I have to say the paint job is very nice on this, well should be cost me a small fortune as it was done by the same guy (car shop) as that did the Naomi Pang's having.

Its nice to be able to play OR2 properly now with the correct dash/wheel, its too hard with the ID dash.

Following art, painting, dashboard etc - wouldn't it have been cheaper just to buy an OR2 in the first place?

I doubt it, Pete's got a minty one this way - a used OR2 wouldn't be in so nice condition.

Not when I got the transplant ID cab for free, complete with fully working monitor ;)

Besides where's the fun in just buying something, rather than having a project ?
