Soul Calibur board help needed.

Post by juanmiglesias »

Hi I just found a non working soul calibur PCB, for what I see there is a couple of cap and resistors missing, exactly C2 and RV201 can anyone help me find the values for both? also the L201 on image 3 seems odd, doesn't seem burn, just broken from maybe a hit while placing or removing the card.

It will work without the bigger caps, but CERTAINLY won't without the 'L202' inductor... :roll:

That inductor supplies voltage to the Motorola chip, which happens to be the Video D/A converter...

RV201 is intentionally empty. leave that alone. On System12, video level is controlled through software, as the CPU can send software commands to the SONY (CXA 1779 DIP chip) video amplifier chip on the large NAMCO board, using a I2C bus. :awe:

L202 is 5R6K -> http://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/mcnl453 ... dp/1864335"
C2 is 47uF, 16v.

Thanks for your explanation! really really helpful, I'll get you back guys when I replace the parts, thanks again :D
now moving to my Killer instinct board, I worked on it last week replacing the drive and boot rom for Cf, everything went fine, today I plug it and didn't turn on, I checked and saw the cap c30 gone. I'll make a new post about it.
