Happy Fish 302 in 1 Video Issues
I picked one of these up cheap and just plugged it in.
It works apart from video which looks like it has some kind of H-Sync issue.
I vaguely recall reading that like some other boards, it may not adhere completely to the jamma spec. Does anyone have one or can shed any light on how I may resolve the issue?
Thanks a lot,
Dave

What sort of h-sync issue? Scrambled pic? Curved at top? Rolling?

Kinda hard to explain. On 2 of my cabs the pic is barely visible and very distorted. On one it almost displays but is curved at the top and is missing elements of the picture (like fades to black especially in the middle).. Also rather shaky (but not vertical hold issue). I will take a pic later.aryssoR wrote:What sort of h-sync issue? Scrambled pic? Curved at top? Rolling?

A pic will help, sounds like it could be a number of things, I would check the ground lines first, and clean the edge connector.
If it's like the Blue Elf, 6 buttons are wired to the Jamma edge, which means you'll have two buttons constantly grounded when connected to a Jamma harness, which may cause weird things to happen. I'd be surprised if it would affect video like this, but you never know.
Aside from that it could perhaps be incompatibility with your cab monitor.
Have you experimented with the dipswitches?

Ahh ok. So bridging 14 to 1 on the PCB itself would suffice? (I don't wanna mess with the machine loom really).grantspain wrote:mate its the video ground, the happy fish don't use the jamma video ground pin-just move it to pin 1
Cheers grant,

I guess your board is not JAMMA, but CAMMA (Chinese Arcade Machine Malware Association).

So now it works, is it as utter garbage as the rest of the x-in-ones?

Re: Happy Fish 302 in 1 Video Issues
It is so so. Some games run fairly well and then others that I would expect to run better (as they are older) have a bit of frameskip on them.aryssoR wrote:So now it works, is it as utter garbage as the rest of the x-in-ones?
For example, from a very short play, Gigawing seems to play pretty well but Ghouls and Ghosts has a frameskip of 1 or 2 on it?
I haven't played many of them tbh. Will prolly sell it shortly as none of the games fill the screen with pink bullets
