Thanks chaps, unfortunately its started me off on looking at some of the other editions of Hot Rod and others ... Doesn't help that I'm skint at the moment!kernow wrote:There's a hot rod on eBay right now at £30 with two days left, no bids.
I only have 1 transformer (never had any decent ones when i was a kid, and the ones i did have were pretty pants). It's smokescreen and I got it many years ago, its in a big white box and is made of metal. Gonna have to dig that out!

Re: Shelf Pleasure
opened up one of the metal slug legos (the crab) brick quality was good not 100% lego though, but way better than mega blocks id put it at around 80% of lego quality seems a little light but not flimsy, everything else was good though, pieces are solid and link well. would recommend a purchase price up to about £20 for the set though I've seen it go to the 50% off a couple of times

Re: Shelf Pleasure
Old news I know, but I've suddenly developed an interest in it, and these Dai-Ou-Jou models are giving me a right stiffy;
http://www.rc-berg.co.jp/products/galle ... achib.html

At first I thought that the rather 'squat' looking design was a far cry from the fighter (that I instinctively think about used in DOJ). And indeed it is different to the concept art (see the classic image of DOJ in the (promo) flyer / poster / game cover).
That is because, these models are in fact based upon the design of the sprite, and it's kinda grown on me.
Mind you, I can't justify £150+ on getting one, especially as I'd **** it up making the thing.
As an alternative the model from Kotobukiya is much cheaper (about £50), more readily available (you can get the thing on Amazon / Genki UK **), and seems to match the concept art, with the stretched front fuselage.
The kit is mostly snap together with some potential gluing required, although I have seen at least one person say that no glue was needed. Also you do not have to paint it either, but you will get a better result if you do.

Finally, for all you Ketsui fans RC Berg also do a kit.
Has to be said that the craft in Ketsui seems a bit of a ugly duckling out of the game, but it could grow on me I suppose (although the **** price won't!).

** edit I got my copy from Genkivideogames in the UK for £45 + £3.75 shipped quickly in a sturdy outer box.
