seriously, a glued on balltop on a sanwa?

Yeah, that's what happened to me today.
(the panel, sticks and buttons are from IC09)

Today I got new Sanwa buttons, a new sanwa stick and several balltops.

Everything went fine, till I tried to screw off the balltop of the first player (2nd got off nicely).


It was a major pain in the ****, I tried the conventional method with a flat screwdriver:


Then I tried to grip the shaft a bit with the gripper, nothing.
and lastly, I got two of my best grippers and raped both the shaft and the balltop, to get it off:



Then I saw, that the balltop was attached with a kind of glue:

Same thing happened with a couple of cabs I bought. I just assumed it was to stop kids robbing the balltops.

And yes, it is a pain in the a$$ to get off!

yep standard practice unless you want to spend out on new ball tops every few weeks-built for arcades mate

I had a few seimetsus like this which I had to dismantle from the underside to pull the shaft through as I *could not* get the **** balls off.

If you don't want to keep the balltops,get the mole grips on 'em and keep squeezing the **** till they crack and fall in half...grrrr.The little threaded brass bit gives up easy then
