Oh crunchy, how are you always so right?crunchywasp wrote:I've not played the new one but DKC has always been **** imo.
In hindsight I only bought the snes one for the graphics and sound. The game is quite void of much else.
The newer games do look a bit more interesting, but DK never feels like a very responsive character to control.

I think it looks like a Wii game (it kinda is). There seem to be enough control choices but collisions seem a bit iffy so far. DK is supposed to be a bit cumbersome though. Doesn't seem to be a great deal of point to Diddy/Dixie/Cranky. I miss switching.fagin wrote:Just been playing DK Tropical Freeze this afternoon.
Is it me or is the control method really cumbersome..... it feels really awkward to me.
It looks great but to me the gameplay is "off".

Loved the first two SNES ones. Pretty challenging from what I remember

I never like the SNES ones either
They looked nice but for me the appeal ended with the graphics.

Me too.... although I thought I'd give Tropical Freeze a go. It's not like there's much else happening on the U currently.Paulie wrote:That's good to hear, I always thought I was the only one who thought this.crunchywasp wrote:I never like the SNES ones eitherThey looked nice but for me the appeal ended with the graphics.
I've been playing on the kids' 2DSs when they're in bed. Mario Kart 7 is a bit naff, Starfox 64 just doesn't feel right without a N64 pad..... but Luigi's Mansion 2 is quite awesome.
My boy is still playing Skylanders Swap Force; we got the last of the Wave 3 figures at the weekend. He's quite happy to sit there and play it on the controller screen whilst his sister is sat watching Winx or My Little Pony on the telly.

Re: Nintendonintendonintendo!
well started playing Donkey kong for a small bit today ,looks good ,really like the underwater and all that ,controll wise it feels ok to me ,i dont think it feel its off ,but i expected him to be a bit harder to controll than the likes of mario being an ape and all ...saying that i'm finding it awkward for jumping etc on the odd enemy but i'm sure that'll come alone with more play.
bad points would be so far : i have no idea what didy kong is there for ,maybe co-op play but outside of that i dont know ,oh wait the occasional high five
it would have been better if they still switched etc
thiink nintendo missed that trick
i'm finding it weird that when i had it on the telly that there is nothing displayed on the gamepad controlled but sound is still emitted from it
i still can still switch to play on it so all good really

Re: Nintendonintendonintendo!
I managed to play through the first two levels of Tropical Freeze... then the boy commandeered the game pad... so I'm watching Next Generation on telly whilst exploring the wonders of the interweb on t'iPad.

It's nice to play a platformer with some challenge for a change.

Re: Nintendonintendonintendo!
Out of the 3 new consoles, I am kinda tempted by the Wii U despite that it only has about 3 games for it.
I missed out on the John Lewis deal for £150, but if the general price drops near to this figure I may pick one up.

Me too (
). All these £500 PS4 and XB purchases currently based on almost style alone. ...I mean, Knack?
