Would love the extras but I'm sticking with the cheap shipping.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
This is made by the same devs as the Astro City Mini and the game quality is about the same. It’s a laggy experience for anyone who’s played the original games.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
I have the Astro City Mini. It's a cute toy, but that's all it is. I never turn it on anymore because there's just no reason to. I'd only buy one of these if you simply want a neat collectable, don't expect to actually use it much.

I'm assuming this is obvious for anyone using this forum though ?Aurich wrote: December 15th, 2021, 7:14 am I have the Astro City Mini. It's a cute toy, but that's all it is. They've really messed up if even I'm not remotely interested in that. Should've done their homework.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
I've cancelled my .jp full schwag order because of it. Lost all interest now.
From the looks of it various different places have various different assorted kits of "full" licensed tat. For something that's already big and bulky which I'll inevitably sell when fed up with, I want *all* the tat.
Hori's concept spinner/trackball/rotary stick looks a far better bet for playing the damn games anyway.

Skip to about ten minutes in and you can see heavy input lag in real-time on that Darius game. I don't know what's to be expected on that game, but that's not a good sign really is it?
I know it's not worth being too fussy over the performance of a toy like this, but there's still a limit.

Regardless, I'm well out at the current preorder prices. It looked cool when I thought it'd be in a near price range of the other minis. I was prepared to waste £150 - and that probably meant up to ~£200. ...But nah.
Teeeempted to just order the usb spinner panel to see if it's useful.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
I'd rather put the money towards a real cab or a pcb. I liked the idea of the spinner for Arkanoid but not much else tbh.
The vertical Astro mini with all them shmups could tempt me though

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
The full deluxe package is $75 cheaper if you buy the Japan version:
https://www.nin-nin-game.com/en/retro-g ... aito-.html
mini console $160:
https://www.nin-nin-game.com/en/retro-g ... aito-.html
Spinner controller and games $104:
https://www.nin-nin-game.com/en/retro-g ... aito-.html
I'll probably wait this one out and see how people like it. Ideally I'd mod it and cram a mister or pi in it anyway.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
Damn, I don't like this at all... I'm mainly interested in the wonderful shell and the spinner, and sooner or later it will be hacked, and then we'll hopefully get less lag, but that's still a bummer. Especially since this thing is not exactly a steal...pubjoe wrote: January 21st, 2022, 5:51 pm

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
It is. The gimmicks are very cool, but I can't see the quality justifying this cost.
I'm sure I remember an opportunity to get the mini Astros a good bit cheaper after release. Dunno if that'll happen with this but I'm interested if it does. I'm still interested in the spinner too.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
Hmm. I had forgotten this was finally coming out in a couple of weeks. Supposed to be tightening my belt prior to my energy bill doubling in April but my Amazon JP preorder was a pretty good deal and I'm curious so I'll stick with it.
The AC Mini has been on the shelf for almost a year
That'll probably go in favour of the tate one.

Re: Taito Egret II Mini
Amazon have slashed the shipping price for the deluxe version. It now comes in at £389 all in to the UK so I've cancelled my other order just in time and gone for it.
