Mine is missing the frame that goes around the marquee holder (white plastic). Anybody willing to make me a reproduction- I'll buy.

I love this thread- hate it at the same time. Makes me want to clean mine up more lol.

How was the CP case? Mine is quite damaged, the areas with holes to attach the CP have been broken and redone, so very feeble.

The CP has also very weird mounting plates. What kind of joysticks is the Swing supposed to mount?

Where did you get the design for the side arts? Think I´m going to replace mine.

About painting the cab, I can see it with the metal parts, but wouldn´t it be better to polish the fiber parts?

How did you go with the speakers´grey areas? Mine has some words carved, probably some arcade golden era memory.

When you have time, could you make some pics to the nuts and bolts? Mine came disassembles and I can make them match, special the ones that attach the CP, the plexy next to the coin slot or the back doors...

I really want to make my cab look as good as yours!
I saw the picture in your thread. Looks like someone tried to steal the panel by ripping it off. Glad they didn't, it looks superb - an original 4l12b is like unicorn ****! I reckon the best way to keep the CP attached would be to use large penny /repair washers. Not sure how big the coach bolts are, maybe M4? If you get penny washers that are wide enough to cover the damage (maybe 20 or 30mm?). These are what I mean: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-M5-M6-M8-M ... ioWZ84COXA

Those brackets you have look like ones I have on my original Astro panel. They take Seimitsu LS32 with the plate numbered 6 here : http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?t=20968. I'm not sure where the plates can be purchased though... These might be the ones : http://www.leshoparcade.com/fiche_produ ... 20Seimitsu

The speaker covers on my Swing are ok. But the spray I used on the base is good and would probably do a good job on the covers too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hammerite-5084 ... B004Z4UMDW

For side art - contact Benoit33 on Neo-Arcadia
I really can't comment on the painting / polishing thing - I'm just an amateur messing around. I'm quite happy with the way the paint sticks to the fibreglass though.
I would say though.... If you're going to be sanding rust off yourself, then get a palm sander, they are brilliant.

I'm really looking forward to see it progress!

Yup, same here, but no marquee at all, I want to cut the plexiglass shape and leave it without the white cover. The guy that sold it to me told me he knows a guay that can mold and copy shapes in fiberglass, but would need a model for that. so unlucky.

Yup, the 4p is sweet, but not that well preserved, some rust and the sticker is starting to detach, I´m going repro down.

About the brackets I thought about just laying an entire thin aluminum sheet so the pull will be evenly distributed across the plastic, like a big linear washer, I am a bit worried about the case condition.

I am definitely using the spray for the covers, could you send some detailed picture of the finished product? How did you strip the paint? Did you sand all the rust in the base? Think Im getting a hand sander.

Will try to find Benoit33 at Neo Arcadia.

Thanks fro taking the time to reply to everything! What bothers me the most is the panel case, seems so brittle I keep thinking it will brake anytime soon. BTW today I´m taking the doors to powder coat them!

Post a picture of your panel case, so that we can see the problem. Maybe you can make it stronger by putting epoxi and fiberglas all over the inside or something.

You can see them here: http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic. ... 48#p460548

BTW about the marquee, does anyone has the aproximate meassures? I want to cut one in methacrylate, even without the white frame, it will still look better.

Zipper, if you have 5 min can you post a pic of the bolts and washers, if any, that hold the CP shell to the frame? I´m travelling and would like to leave it attached before I leave, to avoid problems at home, the cab has colonized one room at home and need to tide it up.

Mine came with only a few bolts, and they were quite rusted - but I had a few trays of mixed bolts (just picked up from DIY stores over the years) and found what I needed there.

Regarding the header surround... it's just a 5mm thick strip of white plastic with 2x 90 degree curves put in it (probably by applying heat). It's not a complex fibreglass moulded piece etc. I think it should be repro-able if someone has the time. I'll run a tape measure around it when I get a chance and post up the measurements (likewise with the header).

Thanks,

I was thinking just on the transparent part of the marquee, without the frame, it will have a lighter feel to it, just worried how will it hold with only two bolts.

About the bolts, thing is the panel holes for the bolts are much bigger than the ones on the frame (the four in the bottom of the panel, so not sure what to use there).

Sounds like yours has been drilled out for some reason? The 4 holes in the bottom of the panel are the same size as the ones on the frame (~6mm). This is an older shot I took:

This is what I´ve got, not too much bigger but enough for a bolt to pass through. Normally both holes should match, so I thought it must be some special washer or bolt.

Stick washers on and that'll be fine.
I managed to apply the art, and cut a pcb board today:

So close now. I'll put it all together next week.

That looks so damn fine. How smooth is the fiberglass paint? Just as the original?

Zipper, can you post a pic of the marquee from the front? As well as the max width and height? I want to make a repro for mine ;)

All done!

There's a bit of light bleed from the marquee past the bezel - i need to stick the bezel down. I also need to turn the brightness down on the monitor a bit.
Other than that, it's done. 8-)

I'll get you the measurements for the header + a square on picture shortly, Zumbito. I need to work on the wife a little bit - so I can get it out of the conservatory and into the house proper.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind owning that. Looks fantastic with D&D in it too.
