I would imagine there might be a way to remove the time limits but will need modification to the motherboard which I don't want to do :D

I've done a little bit of work on the M82 today

1. Cleaning all the sticky stuff from the control pad holder

2. Cleaning all the sticky stuff from the plastic bezel

3. Installing a RT-A Rotary Switch (Not using the 3rd party one now)

As you can see from the pictures above, I have removed the old rotary switch and also remove the heat shrink around it.

I now have the daunting task of stripping the cable down without can strippers!

I've made up a diagram of where everything should go:

Thanks mate :D

I've just installed the rotary switch and wired it all up and it works!!! :D

I've got it the wrong way round which I thought I did as I was doing the diagram..

I'll update the diagram in a minute :D I'll put it the right way round when my heat shrink arrives

Ok, so the above wiring made each point read 128 minutes!! Not bad but would like it working properly.

The original part is I think RTAC42S04W25FS (The W 25 F isn't important from what I can tell).

This was a 4 point rotary switch

The part I have is a RATP4ES10M25NS which is a 10 point rotary switch... (This was the only one available and should work being 1 Pole)

I have drawn a diagram of how the original is wired along with a snippet of the schematics

Image

I have also included the schematics for the 10 pole and how I think I should be wiring it... I haven't tried this yet (And probably won't have chance to at least the weekend) but wanted to hear your thoughts...

Here's the rest of the rotary switch info (for the 10 way)

The connection is BCD so think I need at least one complementary pair of commons which would imply the above is incorrect...

Any ideas?

Edit...

A new attempt at figuring out the original rotary switch

Does this sound right for the new rotary switch?

Sp 0 value -1 = k (Yellow)
Sp 1 value -2 = h (Green)
Sp 2 value -4 = a (Orange)
Sp 3 value -8 = c (Red)
Sp 4 value c1 = n (Brown)

Wired up the above

Switch Position 0 = 30 Seconds (Working :D)
Switch Position 1 = 128 Minutes :cry:
Switch Position 2 = 128 Minutes :cry:
Switch Position 3 = 3 Minutes (Working :D)

Just need to swap green with red I think to get the below

Switch Position 1 = 30 Seconds
Switch Position 2 = 3 Minutes

Doing the above makes nothing work?

This might suggest the following should have been swapped

Brown with orange because the layout is:

Switch Position 1 = 30 Seconds
Switch Position 2 = 128 Minutes
Switch Position 3 = 128 Minutes
Switch Position 4 = 3 Minutes

Edit: Tried the above and it's turned all timings off it seems

Need to test the below

Switch Position 3 = Need to test to see if its 10 or 128 mins)
Switch Position 4 = Need to test to see if its 10 or 128 mins

Tested and there both 128 minutes (Or at least last longer than 10 minutes

This rotary switch is kicking my ****!

I've now managed to disable the whole switch using the current configuration, which could be seen as a good thing - But ideally would like to have it as original as possible...

Here's the original configuration:

At this point i'm guess these are current, I need a multi metre to ensure I know which one's ground/common.

A = 1 - Pos. 4 Red
B = 2 - Pos. -4 Orange
C = 3 - Pos. -I Yellow
H = 4 pos. -I Green
J = 6 pos. 8 Brown

What I've tried is:

I = Pos. 4 Red
A = Pos. -4 Orange
K = Pos. -I Yellow
D = Pos. Green
J = Pos. 8 Brown

If you can help or even if you have any ideas please let me know before I pull my hair out...

I spoke with Digi-Key on web chat and they confirmed a few things for me... I've also e-mailed CK-Components for advice...

The bit thats making it touch is I don't know for sure which each of the colours originally represented...

I will see if I can get hold of a MultiMetre to at least find common/ground.

Hi,

I'm a french dev, i actually work on a (unofficial of course) open source M82 device. This clone aime to be used as demonstration stuff on events.
I have already make some parts which are working. For the moment the R&D fail on the switch between different slot.

It's really dificult to get some pictures of the internal hardware of the M82. Is it possible to have High Res pictures of the whole internal electronic ?

Regards

Hi,

I can take the system apart and take pictures no problem but will be limited to what standard by the cameras I have available.

Also this will take me some time to do, I should be able to get it complete by the end of the month though.

That's looking bloody great! :clap:

£30-40 for fabrication including drawings is a steal. Looking forward to seeing the finished panel.

re the feet, are they just self-adhesive rubber pads? If so you could peel them off, clean the base up then replace them with these or similar?... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Sticky- ... 0935676656"
