Re: Ibara
There's a link to a video on the last page of the high score thread for scoring techniques Etc.
Bomb fragment stock is displayed at the bottom left of the screen iirc.
If you're playing the PCB have a go at Special Version. You can select level and have a rank meter on screen amongst other things.

Re: Ibara
Ideally you want to be past the first extend and well on the way to the second by the end of level 1.

I hadn't adjusted vertical size and the bomb fragments meter was off the screenyosai wrote:There's a link to a video on the last page of the high score thread for scoring techniques Etc.

Hadou bomb is very cool. I have been trying to do a bit of bombing for the first half of level 1 and then unleash the full bomb on the boss. Seems to work ok when I can pull it off

I seem to be getting worse though. I just cannot get off level 2 now and can only get just over a million

Re: Ibara
Jeez. I must be missing some major scoring opportunities somewhere. I can sometimes get around a mil, but 2... I did read on schumps that bombing runs on buildings should not be followed with gun fire as this removes the medals... Tis trickier than it sounds though.cools wrote:Ideally you want to be past the first extend and well on the way to the second by the end of level 1.
I can't see me getting much work done tomorrow

Re: Ibara
You read that wrong.
Some buildings can be destroyed.
Some buildings when destroyed with bombs hold medals.
These buildings when destroyed with guns don't hold medals.

Save your hadous for level 2, no need to use it on the level 1 boss, if you concentrate on the middle section of the level 1 boss it'll die pretty quick anyway, or you can milk it on the wing sections for more score (which might **** it off a bit)
I guess I didn't explain this so well... I basically read what cools said.cools wrote:You read that wrong.

As for hadou saving til level 2... I struggle to do the level 1 boss without losing 2 lives without it hehe. Practice makes perfect I guess

Re: Ibara
This game really is like Marmite, and i love the ****!
Slowly getting better. Level 1 is no probs but still finding level 2 boss a bit tricky.
Loving the carnage on level 3.
Decided to play for progress for now. Will attempt scoring later (still not getting much over a mil)
Hand on heart I think this is one of the best Caves I have played yet, although I am keen to play Dai Ou Jou. I reckon I will prefer it to DoDon as the music is cooler

yeah read as much. Seems a lot of cave fans didn't like the Yagawa influence right?DEL wrote:cRacKh0rN wrote; Its really not a Cave game. Its a Raizing game (S Yagawa) under the Cave name.Hand on heart I think this is one of the best Caves I have played yet

Been trying to get into Batrider on mame but input seems a bit laggy. Will try n tweak some more. As for ps and pork, would love to see em but they are a bit to pricey for my skint ****

PS is bloody wonderfully made but not my cup of tea play wise. Pork next when I have some cash - I've only played 1 credit on it a year or two ago

Just paid the teeny custom charge (plus £13.50 Parcel Force "**** Tax") on my nice new kit from Legend which should arrive tomorrow...
So expect me to be lagging on the bottom of your scoreboard soon!
I love shmups but I'm properly **** at them...

Git. I spent an hour cleaning the COE warranty sticker off mine in rebellion against Legend not having any more.Devil Soundwave wrote:Just paid the teeny custom charge (plus £13.50 Parcel Force "**** Tax") on my nice new kit from Legend which should arrive tomorrow...

One thing confused me about Gwyrgyn Blood's informative rank scoring post:-
By "activating" does he mean when the hadou makes contact with an enemy (as sometimes the red trail seems to miss the boss and leave the screen) or is there something else you can do other than holding b when you have a hadou in stock?Activating Hadou: 10000
Firing Hadou: 0
P.S. Closer now to about 1.8mil on score, but level 2 boss is so damn hard that I can often get to him with 3 lives and not reach level 3

Re: Ibara
By "activating" he means that the cannon is primed/activated for launch as soon as the red trail appears after holding the B button. You can then launch the cannon at your own discretion as long as you don't let go of the B button once the red trail appears. There may be a time limit imposed on said action though, not sure tbh.cRacKh0rN wrote:One thing confused me about Gwyrgyn Blood's informative rank scoring post:-

Ahh of course. Forgot about the holding onto it scenario when I read the guide.throneofwolves wrote:

Cheers

Very interesting how much a large powerup and weapons that are not needed affects rank too.
Words cannot describe how much I love this game. Boo to the haters!

Re: Ibara
Amen to that! I can understand why some don't like it though, as the difficulty level can be seriously intense and is simply too much for some, to put it mildly. Still, nothing like a good challenge, eh?!cRacKh0rN wrote:Words cannot describe how much I love this game. Boo to the haters!

Every play you learn a little more and get a little better...Still struggling with that level 2 boss tho. Tempted to flick the switch to Special Version soon so I can practice a bit...
Also been watching some Ketsui vids and that looks very cool... Trust me to like the games that cost a packet
