You'll struggle to get the control panel plate - there is about 5 people on these forums looking for those for OR2 conversions from ID.Andypc wrote:I've decided to turn into a twin

Re: Sega Rally Conversion
Thats where the ClubKart went... Couldnt you use the dash from a Touring Car, Daytona or Sega Rally... as Andy is right there is a lot of people after Sega Model 3 Dash. I assume you will want whatever you used to match your other cabinet!Andypc wrote:I've decided to turn into a twin

Re: Sega Rally Conversion
The control panel plate from an old Touring Car, Daytona or Sega Rally dash would work just fine. I already have a new plastic dash cover on order. Yes I am looking to make the cabinet exactly the same as my other one. I have already got all the lid and foot plate with all the chrome from an old Touring Car base. The Club Kart has the newer plastic sides and I am looking to swap them with someone who has a set of the older style plastic side.WhiteComet wrote: Thats where the ClubKart went... Re: Sega Rally/Club Kart Conversion
I'm finally starting to make some real progress with the second cab. I have been waiting for some new parts from Sega that arrived on Friday including a new bass speaker and foam inserts for the seat. Saturday I got the call to say that all the metal work had been powder coated and was ready for collection
I managed to get the chrome for the lid and the footplate thanks to G-man on Jamma+ and an old Touring Car base he no longer needed. The chrome came up like new with some polish and I think it looks much better than the newer cabs without it.

Awesome thanks... it would nice to know how you mounted the steering wheel with it. Or even how you mount it into the cabinet.

Re: Sega Rally/Club Kart Conversion
I had an aluminium spacer made up to fit the G25 wheel and bring it forward 3.5cm. I will post some photo's when I get it back as it's currently being used as a template to make up a second one.gbeef wrote:Hey i got one more question for you did you extend the shaft of the wheel out? if so how did you do that? i've seen another coversion where a guy extended the wheel out using 4 bolts, wondering if you did the same?

Re: Sega Rally/Club Kart Conversion
Excellent thread - don't know why I've not seen it before (actually, I think I may have done!). And it all looks oh, so familiar!!
I'm only about 2 days away from completing my twin now so I'll stick some piccies on here when I do and transplant the "restore" thread from ukvac to my website for all to see

Andy
Awesome Thread, I just picked up a Sega Rally Twin in Ireland, in pretty good condition.
Threads like this help newbies like my so much
sharkfactor and purlec have two great threads too.
But looking at this started by Andypc » October 27th, 2009, 9:00 am and still going to this day,
its never a quick restore
Had to laugh a year in and u said im gonna turn urs into a TWIN
lol
So far one got at weekend has
Player 1:
- Screen Perfect but needs color and size synching on Pots, little screen burn
- Very NOISY!!!! Under seat and FFB
- FFB doesnt work, tries too.
- Looks like Gear 3 doesnt either, netrual.
- 1 Speaker on side not working
- Needs to fix front subs too
Player 2
- Scratches on Srceen, bad ones but hardly notice when playing,
Big Diff on P2 screen, great brightness and colors!!!! AWESOME
- BOTH Speakers work great
- Needs to fix front subs too
- FFB works brill and all controls
- Swapped P1 buttons with P2 as START Button was Stuck
- Casters need replace on player 2
MARQUEE:
-Tried to lift on my own, bad idea srcatch all kitchen worktop coz of it falling
But to my suprise TOP MARQUEE in Perfect condition and LIGHTING WHOOP!!!!
- 6 Bulbs for P1 and P2 all need replacing, Easier than if marquee light not working
110v 30w
Played P1 a bit, disaapointing it had issues with Gears, FFB and screen
Spent whole day with suds and water cleaning inside and out
Only after this did i hook P2 and marquee and last part was worth wait
coz hey presto all worked fine on Player 2 bar start button, (swapped in p1)
And its some fun for 1995 game, FFB is great and so is handling.
Cant wait to work on this for next few weeks,
and thinking ill keep get Player one with Transformer fully restored and to Convert Player 2 to PC\xbox360
so so many great driving games out there, Sega Rally Online out this week,
so ill this have main guts of orignal cab on one side, and all modern comforts on other
Thanks, kev

Re: Sega Rally/Club Kart Conversion
Hi Andy, I know it's an old thread but I'm doing exactly this conversion with my Sega Nascar racing and a G27. Could you explain more what you did to put a G25? Any help would be appreciated.
