FWIW, the new arcade in Brooklyn uses those knockoff New Delta cabs. I think a Vewlix VS would look a bit classier. But that's just my opinion.
I see... Good to know thanks! Would you say the stock LCDs are good quality? According to Cell's snapshots they seemed legitimate in picture quality.
And I do agree the Vewlix VS models look much classier. hahah :D
Sorry, which cab are you asking about? There's 3 different cabs discussed in your last comment and I want to make sure I talk about the right one.
My mistake, I was questioning the quality of the Vewlix L/VS LCDs...

Screen is good. Most people I have seen attaching it never questioned it.
Now, if you want the top notch one, buy a Sanwa one. It's what F used, and you can't have better AFAIK on an arcade cabinet.
But the screen is more expensive than the L cabinet itself...

Pretty much, you're better off just buying a used F or two instead of retrofitting the screens into an L or VS.

I got one soon after you posted this thread, and I love it.
BTW, is it just me or do the speakers suck? Have you considered changing yours?

Does it take car speakers? You could probably outfit it with some awesome speakers if it does.

They 3" speakers. 10w and 4 ohms. Definitely something I'd have speacialty order online. I tried fitting my W3-871S Tang Band driver, but the mounting holes are off about a whole hole. Gotta order some with a different mount. Maybe figure out how to add a sub too.

I put a 5.1 Logitech speaker in mine, but needs modification to get them to fit. They look and sound great.

Did we ever determine if this thing is in fact a knockoff or a legit Taito product, just made in China on the cheap for the cheap?

I know Neo_Arcadia hinted at some things but never elaborated for whatever reason.

Sucks that it doesn't have DVI in, even the real knockoff Chinese cabs have DVI... :(
For what it's worth, my cabinet has CGA, VGA and DVI. Mine is has a Samsung LTA320AP05 panel instead of the LTA320AP02 that the OP has.
I'm currently running it to my PC.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I have not swapped out my speakers. I really want to take off the **** protective plastic cover from the monitor and then reflush it up in the black case that holds it in place. I'm just worried about damaging that outer casing.

Hi Cell,

I am also looking into buying a vewlix L cabinet. I was thinking of putting a pc into it. But i dont have the slightest clue how to do that to be honest. Near as i can tell, I can hook up a PC using VGA, connect the arcade jamma cables to a j-pac and connect that to the pc using USB. Is that all I need to do or is it more complicated than that?

Do you have any tips for a noob?

Sorry for the late response. If your still around I think that would work perfect for you. I really just use a Japanese xbox in mine and I love it.

Cell-

First off. Excellent read. I'm a Noob looking to buy my first cab. I have about 10 emails going to coinop. Shipping to from China to NYC is $400. The real cost is Customs and Truck Delivery to PA... I'm still on fence.

The monitor. Have you done a lag test? I've heard conflicting reports on it.

I can handle 1-2 frames of lag.

Thanks!

Here's the difference between the F model and the L
(this been taken from _xizor post)

POWER SUPPLY (JAMMA SPEC)
Vewlix-F = EQUIPPED
Vewlix-L = OPTION

EEFL UNIT INSIDE CONTROL PANEL
(BACK LIGHT FOR PLAY INSTRUCTION)
Vewlix-F = EQUIPPED
Vewlix-L = NONE

LED-PCB FOR LIGHTING INSIDE TITLE
PANEL OF THE UPPER PART
Vewlix-F = EQUIPPED
Vewlix-L = NONE

AC POWER SWITCH
Vewlix-F = THE FRONT & BACK
Vewlix-L = THE FRONT ONLY

WOOD ELECTRIC BOARD OF THE BOTTOM
Vewlix-F = YES
Vewlix-L = YES, BUT A LITTLE SMALLER THAN "F"

LENGTH OF AC CORD
Vewlix-F = 3m
Vewlix-L = 2m

LCD PANEL
Vewlix-F = SANWA LCD and HDCP compatible
DSub / DVI Connectors , 640x480 - 1360x768 res (720P)

Vewlix-L = NON-SANWA - RESPONSE SPEED IS A LITTLE SLOWER THAN "F" (As in higher Milliseconds) and non-HDCP so you will need
an HDfury to run hdcp content. DSub / DVI Connectors , 640x480 - 1360x768 res (720P)

The Vewlix VS
is a head-to-head vewlix model just like the Sega Versus City cab. Technically its 2 Vewlix L connected together but has a newer commercial grade screen like the Vewlix F.

Thanks for the write up Cell. If you are able to plug ya TypeX2 into the clone IO board USB port directly, would it be possible to plug a PC/Mame Box directly via USB rather than using a J-Pac?

Hi Cell,

really interested in one of this Chinese Vewlixes, given how hard originals are to come by and that I will mostly use it for SFV. One question, could you tell the difference in quality, between the plastic parts you ordered from Taito and the ones that came with the Chinese one?

The plastics are the same. The metal and paint is the same. Ive seen other clones that are way worse. Its been so many years by now Im not even sure what they are making now in the clone world.
