My friends love playing it. Noone has ever heard of it and they talk about it now everytime I see them. They think its crack.
Its made me fall in love with my tated Astro. Just paid for Dodonpachi today, so hopefully get to play that soon also.
Now to hit 2mil.

Great work, it's good to see a bit of passion towards gaming. Promise me that you won't give up until you have a score >3,520,000

I will try my best. Everyone that I know is loving this game. They find it very hard but love it. None of us has even beaten stage 2 boss.

Re: Ibara - PCB
I'm getting there... 1st and 2nd extends are no big deal. If I can get a good run and get to the second boss at ~2.5m with a hadou in stock for her last pattern I'm sure I can do well on L3. Just getting it all together isn't happening. Had a quick few credits last night and lost my 10k medals 4 times on the second level!yosai wrote:Great work, it's good to see a bit of passion towards gaming. Ibara
Just got this PCB and I can see what everyone meant about the sheer difficulty of it
After a few plays I took a look at the dips, and to my amazement it was on very easy!
Ironically, I reset it to normal and found it easier as the bullets seem to hang around a lot longer on very easy making them harder to dodge.
I will be taking a look at the guides, but anyone got general tips?
Weapons for example... It seems like a good idea to get the rockets. I remember reading that the better you play the harder it gets... What counts as "better play" and how do I avoid it?

Re: Ibara
From what very little I know about it:
Bomb a lot! Every little green and greyish square Items are bomb fragments that save towards one big bomb. Use these fragments to blow up ships and buildings to get lots of medals. When ever youmss a falling one it breaks your chain. Kernow's sig explains it all. Its like an Ibara heiroglyph!
Rockets are bad. You want to stick to machine gun and raise your bullet power by getting the red and grey icon power ups. I'm the worst player but that's how I play.

Yes get rid of it, A horrible game.

Just keep bombing with the small bomb powerups.
I love level 3 with the train but getting there is **** hard it makes you want to chuck your cab across the room.

Re: Ibara
Watch where you're moving, bomb lots, collect medals. The differing weapons rarely make much of a difference - though the penetrating ones take down bosses faster.

Re: Ibara
Cheers for the tips so far. They have been most helpful.
Managed to triple my score on level one with bombing. I did get to level 3 ok last night but really struggling today. Level 2 boss is damn hard.
I wasn't sure I liked it last night, but with a few more games under my belt I am starting to think it is a really satisfying shooter.
So whats the technique with aura flash? Is it some uber weapon that you unleash??

Re: Ibara - PCB
There are some decent runs here. The 6 part ACR run is the PCB (afaik) with a G,527,470 score.

Re: Ibara
it's even worse! There's much less slowdown. You do have the arrange mode though, which is easier. Stick with the pcb you'll make progress if you practiceneokidgeo wrote:Sorry to askis the ps2 version just as hard?

Re: Ibara
Not sure I do know about the hadou bomb and scoring. Please educate me... Struggling to get 1mil.. Close but things just go mental! I did some credit feeding and played through Level 3.. Seems very good for scoring. What is the average score to be aiming for on Level 1 and 2?kernow wrote:no it just happens when you pick up a weapon or something, just try it on the level 2 boss, when you die, pick up something when you're on top of the boss.
you know about the hadou bomb right? it can be used for scoring as well as dealing out punishment to bosses.

Cheers for the links and infokernow wrote:I usually finish level one with about 800k or so , give or take, come up to 2 mill on the level 2 boss, and sometimes it ends there![]()
hadou bomb is when you collect enough little bombs to get a big bomb, and then you hold B and let go for massive damage![]()
keeping the internal rank low is key to progressing, try not to pick absolutely everything up, bomb lots on buildings to release medals, you'll know when the rank is high, especially on the level 1 boss because it gets very angry and fast![]()
dying reduces rank, you get a new life every million anyway, so don't worry about losing them too much.
Theres different ship types too, sortof
http://world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Ibara/System.htm
http://world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Ibara/Ibara.htm

Unless I'm spending all my time looking at the bullets, am I right in thinking that rank and bomb fragment stock is done on memory alone?
From reading the highscore thread, I sorta worked out the ship could be changed. I think I like the B ship best. The A-B is too fast for me

Was not aware of hadou bomb, so will have a play in a bit. I have managed to get just over a million, but all of a sudden I am struggling to get off level 1 boss without losing 2 of my ships

Really is an interesting game. So hard it is stupid and yet so compelling. I think it will be in the astro for some time to come.
