Re: Sega Rally Conversion W.I.P

I have been busy working on the pedals. I completely stripped the pedals and degreased everything. The pedal base was sent off to be sand blasted and powder coated. I polished up the pedals and the pedal cover and finally put it all back together with new washers and e-clips re-greasing where appropriate. Just need to sort out the new pots :D

Admire the effort you are putting into this, but please remove that SegaRaceTV artwork, it is so crap.. At least get MCS to design some bespoke artwork.. He has the template for Racing cabs sides, base etc artwork. :)

Time for the most important part the Steering Wheel mod ;)

First I had to modify the Logitech G25 by cutting away part of the casing, so the steering column could sit flush against the frame and come through straight.
Wheel Mod.jpg
I then had a local metal work company, who were incredibly helpful make up a frame that bolts to the Sega frame and holds the Logitech G25 firmly in place. They also made up an Aluminum spacer to bring the wheel forward slightly into the correct position. They did an amazing job and it all went together perfectly :D

I then painted the frame and put it all together and tested the G25 minus the wheel.

I then had to wait until my new Control Panel Cover, buttons and stickers arrived from Sega, which fortunately wasn't too long :P
New Cp.jpg
Then it was time to put it all together and fit it on the Cab.
Wheel in Cab.jpg
You can see the youtube clip of me testing the wheel in the cab :D It works like a dream with great force feedback.

Just a couple of bits left for the weekend. Fitting the restored and modded Sega Pedals and the control panel buttons.

Will post a few more Pics when its all finished.

The control panel cover was £62.70 + Vat from Sega, but I had to wait a while as they imported it from Japan.

Yes, I meant to say it was an R-Tuned dashboard. It was the best one for the project as it didn't have a collar attached for the steering column.

The cab is finally finished with the original pedals refurbished and modded with 10k potentiometers. The pedals work great with no problems getting full throttle etc.

Aren't you going to fix the shifter? It looks kind of tacked on. I have to say though, great job on the steering wheel. Totally looks natural on the cab the way you did it, although I'd probably cover those red buttons with button plugs of some kind.

I'm not sure there is much more I can do with the shifter. The G25 is the only 6-speed gated shifter that can also be used as a sequential shifter. I have had to compromise a little for the functionality, but it does mean I can easily play lots of different driving games in the cab (Daytona using the Model 2 Emu and most PS3 & PS2 games) The steering wheel buttons are also useful for certain games. i.e. GTI Club+, Sega Rally for the hand brake.

I've decided to turn it into a twin :awe:

I've just had this delivered and already have some of the other parts I need on order :)
Games 015a.jpg
I am currently looking for another set of seat speakers (Gullbox and Bass) and the metal frame from a Dash with the gear shifter in the right. Any idea's?
