Not only is that result beautiful and stunning, but the amount of work you've put into it is showing clearly and it's all so very impressive!

Nice work mate, the more you add to this thread, the more I want one.

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
Thanks mt8, that's not a bad idea. I tried it earlier using some tin foil and Pritt-Stick (idc wrote:http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/161265/" then trim with a Stanley knife.FrancoB wrote:The LEDs are actually that bright that they shine through the white acrylic, I think I'll line the inside of that piece with some aluminum foil.

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
Just picked up a gutted Dino King here in the states.
Do you happen to have measurements for some of the stuff you've made?
I need to know the size of the wooden Shelf pieces, and I want to copy your Power Supply Mount as I will need to add a PSU into the cab.
Any info is hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Top shelf is 365x354mm
Bottom shelf is 365x244mm
PSU mount:

All are 12mm MDF.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Quick update whilst I'm here. I've not had much chance to work on these recently with one thing and another. I wanted to make sure I could get my Naomi CF card setup working before I continued with the service panel but I managed to get it working yesterday

I've got some Hirose edge connectors from Akishop on order and I need to wait for them before I can do the bulk of the wiring, I should be able to get the service panels sorted at least.

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
Seeing the mini GnG cab at play at the weekend really shows how excellent these little cabs can be.

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
I've had lots of good comments about my gng cab from people who saw it at Play, FrancoB can take a lot of the credit for that one as well as he made all the custom plastics for the panel and bezel.
These cabs are going to be incredible when they are finished, that's a given
It would be a real sight to have these 2, mine, and virtvic's mr driller one all lined up together at Play next year!

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
Cheers duder
Well, 2014 definitely is going to be year of the minis. To be honest I had lost a little interest with the hobby last year which I think was in part due to me having various cabs in partial working states and I couldn't motivate myself to play them. However since getting the Astro I've probably played more credits in the last couple of weeks then I have in the last six months or so
I'm now motivated to crack on and get these mofos done. I've got a (fair) bit of work to get through first but once that's on I'm going to give these cabs both barrels
I've just been looking to see if I can machine some stainless CPs for them at work. It's going to be a lot of work getting tooled up to make them but I want to make a few different CPs for them so it should pay off in the end. I'm just about to order some flush head clinch studs to have a play with as they're a nice easy and clean solution for joystick mounts.

Re: Sega Mini Cab Conversions
It will be great to this these cabs finished off as you've put so much into them already....methinks these may end up being the prettiest "mini cabs" out there.
Miss my project cabs
...the little DigDug took 4 months from start to finish and that was easy compared to some of the machining your doing for these franco!!
Hope to see these badboys finished soon!!

Franny! I'm back in action...the last little while has been rough on my schedule, but I was able to dump a bunch of responsibilities off, so I'll be dedicating time to your artwork now. My apologies for the delay, pesky life got in the way...FrancoB wrote:Well, 2014 definitely is going to be year of the minis.
