Re: exA-Arcadia
Thanks Shou, I'll check it out. The USB is nicotine soaked and came with the cab, I'll swap it out and test with a multi meter.
Here is some feedback regarding your vewlix conversion kits. If the panel needs 7mm nuts for mounting, please provide them with the kit. The kit just came with 10+ screws, which I assume were for the I/O? There are only 4 post holes on the I/O so maybe the wrong mounting hardware was shipped with the kit.
Other than that the construction of the panel is very nice and better than the 2 player repro panel I had on the cab. The finish looks great and I'm excited to get it set up after running to some hardware stores tomorrow.
EDIT: The screws are for the joysticks, I just realized they don't have posts.

Did anyone else get a copy of shinorubi with a black shell? The site shows they are supposed to be pink. Kinda odd.

I wonder if it's worth contacting support and seeing if I can swap it out...
It's not a big deal, but I kinda enjoy getting games with different colored shells. I think Cotton is the only other black one I have.

Re: exA-Arcadia
I got the exa back today! With A&B updated to 1.2.2 and paired with the exa I/O, I can't feel any lag. The random I/O errors I was getting before are also gone. It was probably that jank USB cable I was using.

The control panel is designed to be a drop in and should use the same parts that are in a stock Vewlix. The JVS’ I/O mount onto the plate where a Taito JVS or Fast I/O is normally installed. The included screws are for Seimitsu SS mounting plates or the similar Sanwa ones.redfield0009 wrote: July 13th, 2024, 4:15 am Thanks Shou, I'll check it out. That was probably my problem, I was using a repro panel that used m4 nuts. My bad, my blunder.Shou wrote: July 19th, 2024, 4:49 pmThe control panel is designed to be a drop in and should use the same parts that are in a stock Vewlix. Re: exA-Arcadia
I think it's time to finally going to pull the trigger on an exA setup, and have a few questions:
- is there a place I can find information about hardware and software revisions/changes, with dates?
- I assume the Hawt Pink Club motherboards are licensed? Is the Hawt Pink Club edition motherboard something that is available to a US purchaser?
- though I understand the warranty does not transfer for secondhand purchases, can updates or repairs still take place for a fee?
- what is everyone's preferred hardware these days for JVS -> JAMMA, for use in older universal cabinets?
[/list]Thanks for any help... I couldn't find definitive answers on some of this and figured this would be the best place to ask.

Re: exA-Arcadia
There is an updates section on the exa site for the games, but not for all the revisions that have been done. Just the latest.
If you want the porn system and porn games for all your porn needs there is a European site that sells them. Red suns I think?
If buying used they will still do updates as long as your system isn't acquired through illegal activities and your warranty void stickers haven't been removed. Your millage may vary though, so might as well buy directly from Exa. The big plus to buying a new exa right now is that the CMOS battery is accessible from the outside of the case. Older systems need to be shipped to Exa for battery replacement when they die.
When shipping to Exa there is a service center in Japan and one in the US. The Japan location is incredibly fast, the US location takes 3 weeks to a month for service.
I don't run my exa in a jamma candy cab but you can using JVS to JAMMA I/O. Most people are either using JVS cabs or I/Os and playing on their TVs like savages. The Exa JVS(Dash) I/O for the Vewlix is amazing if you got one of those cabs.

Re: exA-Arcadia
Thanks for the tips. I'll probably just go with exA to be safe, even though I like the look of the pink porn edition.
The porn games look like funny curios, but not $1000 funny.
EDIT: It also appears to be significantly more expensive, at least through Red Sun, so that's out.

Re: exA-Arcadia
I thought about getting some hawt pink games because I'm a degenerate, but they all look like legit trash. I can't sit in my house and justify playing a shmup where half the screen is dedicated to a woman in a milking machine.
I did think about it though.

Re: exA-Arcadia
lol, I'll admit it crossed my mind. Bad **** Babes looks completely ridiculous.
Are there any shooters that are 100% exclusive to the exA, meaning no PC releases?

Re: exA-Arcadia
Short answer is no. Aka&Blue only had a mobile phone release. Type R could be considered their flagship shmup. Shinorubi can be played on tate which makes its a completely different game from the steam/console release.
SDOJ, Crimson Katana, and Batsugun have exclusive exa modes and could be considered "black label" versions.
The only other shmup I've played is cotton and I think it has 2 extra characters and a 2 player mode for the arcade exclusive.

Re: exA-Arcadia
Vritra Hexa, not 100% exclusive.. however having played the base PC game 'Vritra' when it first came out, the exA version is remastered and for me that made the purchase totally worthwhile. I think the developer spent another year or more improving it and you really notice it in terms of the gameplay and mechanisms, new levels, weapons, branching, 2 player and the way it looks/sounds.Are there any shooters that are 100% exclusive to the exA
If you want a pink motherboard, that system is 'licensed' from exA and fully compatible with all cartridges.

Vritra hexa is a awsome and criminally underrated!
