On a lighter note I have changed the battery and updated all the games i needed to. Just wanted to thank the exa team for fixing the bootloop issue I had with the battery dying. Now i have a reason to turn it on at least once a month to charge that battery and keep it fresh. They also didnt mind me taking almost a year to send it to them either.

Also is anybody planning to make exa games storage/display stand for the carts? I imagine a sort of acrylic stand with small cut outs in the base block so you can plop them in vertically once you finished playing them. Something with a acrylic housing so that they look like they are on display would be nice. An official exa carts stand would be ideal but aftermarket will do. Would there even be any interest in something like this? As i dont want to just keep opening and closing the original boxes every time i want to play and dont want them lost or thrown about.

Maybe for those with more than 4 games show us how u store ur exa carts???

You buy another system.

It's not a rechargeable battery.

I have 5 games and the ones not in use go back into the bubble/kit box. I pretend it's the old school days with cave kits still.

I assumed it was as that makes more sense as its not user servicable???

In that case i might as well book another battery change now cos by the time i actually do it it would have died again. Apparently i sent it back a little too soon too as soon as i got it back they had option to add a moding service. Same thing happened with aka2blue. As soon as i got it back there was another update. Lol.

The new mobo has the battery on the outside so consumers can change without shipping to exa.I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure exa is offering this upgrade to existing mobos, not sure if it’s a free or charged service to do the upgrade.

Chuck them in the bottom of the Vewlix innit.

I got my LE motherboards back safe and sound last week. 😮‍💨 Games and hardware all running the latest version now. Most games on their final revision now, surely.

Mine is still being serviced, but when I asked, support said it was a paid upgrade, but wasn't ready yet.

There are a few 'silent' modifications made during the motherboard service according to Shou. It's possible they did a stealth install of the RTX 4090 :D , but if not then hopefully one of them is to improve the CMOS battery lifetime.

I have had Type X2 still going on original CMOS from 14 years ago so it should be possible, but still prefer to swap out a battery every 5 years anyway.

I'm looking forward to Chaos Code Next, from what I've read exA are planning on having the fighting games have 'seasons'. So you will buy the base game (hopefully not too expensive pls  ) and then there will be paid updates with new characters/features, presumably shipping with new artwork and so on.

It should mean the games evolve over time a bit like Tekken 7 did which remained popular in arcades for about 8 years. I believe any regular balance/minor bug fix updates should still be available for free. Perhaps one of the other games (Aka to Blue?) already had a paid update but it's something new anyway.

Happy to pay for the upgrade. Holding off my system (and cart) updates until the case mod for Akai Katana and SDOJ systems is avilable.

Also looking at the JVS dash I/O  I wonder if it will work with other JVS systems like Deathsmiles 2 PC and Naomi.

I'm excited to try out the new I/O. There is a github address printed on the PCB and a micro USB port so maybe the firmware can be updated?

I'm also wondering if the I/O can be powered by the USB port, I sometimes got I/O errors with my Taito JVS when playing A&B. Not sure if it was a voltage issue, or just a bug that's been fixed via software updates, but it would be nice to bypass the cabs power supply if needed.

I don’t think it does work with other systems if I recall, correctly, sure there was a thread were a dude blew up a exa io trying to use it on other systems then wanted his money back but Exa wouldn’t refund

We haven’t tested with those. DS2 in particular is picky about IOs because of its not great implementation. Back when it was new, it was known that Capcom IOs could brick it.

We have tested with TGM3 on TypeX and Blazblue CSII on TypeX 2. Bootleg multis won’t work because they don’t implement JVS correctly in the cases that we have seen.

Also, note that you won’t get faster speeds with other systems as they are vanilla JVS.

If you have an older Vewlix, check the +12V PSU at the bottom of the cabinet with an multimeter and adjust. If you’re still having IO errors, try swapping the USB cable.

You can power with the USB C but we suggest using the Vewlix power only, never both.

Older games are definitely on a final version if they have been updated for JVS Dash. There are a handful which have not been. The next three scheduled for updates are Blazing Chrome AC, Fight of Gods Arcade Edition and Cotton 6.

The goal is to get the entire catalog’s input lag under 3 frames of input lag so 0.3 to 3 frames - making it faster than any other platform be it arcade, console or PC.

Thanks for confirming Shou. Definitely wasn't expecting any speed increase with legacy Hardware. I was just hoping that I didn't have to swap the I/O each time I fired up DS2 :P

I think I'll just order one JVS dash for the vert Diamond Black (stock monitor) and leave the Taito I/O on the hori Diamond Black.

And thanks for the Capcom I/O heads up - didn't realise that could kill the DS2 PC.
