The cute is horrible to play on. Astros and Blasts are pure joy and have perfect ergonomics.

The pony 3 is not so great. I hade one, the footprint is excellent but it did a number on my neck and shoulders.

You wash that mouth out with soap aerobert, the Pony III is perfect :D

In the ten or twelve years I've had mine it's only ever been used for vertical shmups which I think it's absolutely perfect for. Never actually played a hori game on one, would imagine it's not the most comfortable thing in that configuration.

It looks like an exact copy of the original cab. The monitor is in all likelihood 18" and tateable. Note that China made its own 18" tubes (Chinese designations are like 47SX110Y22) which were used for some versions of the Sanwa PM1723 aka 18V21 (https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/t1096975430/) and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the monitor in this repro.

Are those Chinese tubes any good though? Electronic from that part of the world don’t have a very good reputation, especially ones from the time period I imagine those tubes were made in. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers, I doubt I could source a higher quality CRT monitor that would be a drop in replacement at this late year of lord.

I would buy one of these cabs if it came without monitor for a cheaper price. I have 7-8 18" tubes (all Toshiba and Hitachi) taken from old TVs that I could use to make monitors with some Euro chassis (Hantarex etc.). I don't think I'll ever use all of them so I could part with some but it's complicated (risk of damage in shipping).

Had a view of the chassis? Does it look like these?

Most people say they're terrible, but some say they're fine when set correctly.

The Capcom Cute reminds me of those tiny candy crane machines for little kids they stuck a monitor in

Seller didn’t send any photos of the inner electronics so the chassis situation is unknown. I suppose if it is the chassis only that is of dubious quality it might be possible to replace it with another genuine chassis. That is, if the tube is drop in compatible with a genuine cute tube. Of course of the tube itself is of low quality…

Regardless, i hope the tube makes the trip unscathed. Really not keen to try and source one myself.

If I am not mistaken these mini arcade machines were mostly designed to be used by Japanese candy stores (dagashi) who usually had one or two out in front of their little stores to attract kids to spend more money.

Not unlikely that they stod right next to a crane machine.

I made it sound like a bad thing but I didn't mean to. The "some" who say they're fine also say that those "most people" haven't set up the chassis properly, which would make sense. A repurposed tube matched competently with a new chassis is the best thing they can realistically do. I'm impressed by the photos. It's a fascinating surprise that these even include a CRT. I'd have bet on an LCD like in other recent clones.

At this very moment there's a stack of washing on it. On the plus side, it's kept the cabinet smelling fresh. :D

Pretty sure my one came with a Toshiba tube but I’m not sure on the chassis. I’d have to check.

Did they air fright it?

We had a test terminal/cabinet at work sent direct to us via Shenzhen airlines:

When the seller quoted me the shipping price he said it would take 55 days to arrive after sailing, so I assume it is coming by boat.

I think shipping by boat is generally viewed as quite safe, at least compared to air and freight.

Can’t smell worse than the inside of my Blast City, with its strong aromatic of decades ofJapanese arcade nicotine absorption.

You think they transport these cabs on migrant-boats or what?
