When your working with tools all day at work having decent stuff really makes a difference compared to the crap they gave me.

I used to collect G Shocks, sold all mine in recent years, didn't know they made nice stainless models. I would probably wear this one, how much?

The seller finally sent me a video of the Capcom mini cute repro prior to shipping:

Along with some pictures of the inside:

Things of note:

It does have a CRT monitor in there, still not sure of the size or make. Not sure, but the bracket does not seem to be made for accommodating TATE mode, which is a shame if so.

The buttons are not the standard colour for mini cutes, they are supposed to be blue and red. I suppose I can fix that myself, at a cost. Would have been nice they came in the exact right colour though.

The green colour of the kick plate top is also not correct. But that might just be a protective layer that is supposed to be peeled off. Not sure, I guess I will know in time.

Seems the coin mech is functional, but not sure if it takes 100 yen coins of some sort of custom tokens. Hopefully it will come with a handful if it is tokens.

The overall unit looks really nice with the side sticker and everything. I really hope it will make the long journey safely in the same great shape.

overall it looks really good from 1st glance hanging eyelet and stickers and all , only thing that looks different is the monitor mount ,the kick plate people have had issues matching for a long while , think someone had a roll at somepoint of a fairly good match. on the the monitor mount could be due to fitting whatever size screen in it , could be easy enough to tap holes or make a mount to TATE but i suppose hard to see untill you have it in your hand ...

why did you go for yellow ! :P

Why yellow? Actually the seller never gave me any colour options, I sent him a picture of the yellow one as an example of what I wanted. I don't know if all he does is yellow or there are also green and pink versions and I just got the colour I sent an example photo of. In any case, I am quite please as I actually wanted the yellow one, I find the colour to be the most pleasing looking version. That colour does not only match certain aspects of my living room interior, but that yellow is just, well, it represents CAPCOM for me.

I think the monitor will rotate looking at that will it not? The height/width pitch of the holes in the outer frame should be 1:1 allowing you to rotate 90 degrees.

Those cutes look painful to play, I'm trying to understand the point of one, how is an adult sized person supposed to use it let alone two? Sitting or on knees? Looks perfect for little kids though

I found them to be at least more practical than an aero city. I can't fit my knees under those either but here you can at least put your knees to the side.
Also the cutes are surprisingly bulky for a "small" cab.

The point is in its name. It is in fact, cute.

But in all seriousness, I have never had the pleasure of actually seeing nor sample one in person, so I cannot gauge how practical it is. I have for the longest time had a Blast City cab that I don’t find very easy on the eyes in terms of aesthetics. In my heart of hearts I always preferred and wanted an Astro City, but I got impatient and have regretted it since.

I actually don't play arcade games too often, so the vast majority of the time the cab is basically a piece of furniture. Given the small size of my studio apartment it is quite an imposing piece of furniture at that. The way the Blast is currently situated in my place it is not too practical to play on either, especially when my significant other joins for some coop. The corner it is designated to is quite cramped, and due to its size, and general unappealing aesthetics I do not really care to place it anywhere else.

The cute, on the other hand, I feel it will fit into that corner much better, appear less imposing, take up less space and actually fit in with the décor somewhat. Whether it will be pleasant to play on, well, I think that is a secondary concern to be honest. I am fairly certain it will be just fine to sit in front of for a short session here and there, and for two player sessions, well, we'll see. They are rare enough that it won't be a major concern either. Actually the step down converter I use for my Blast does not have enough juice to power it for more than around 2-3 hours before it overheats and shuts off anyway, and that is around the maximum time I would dedicate to an arcade game.

Now, the only question is can I bring myself to sell the Blast city and contend with the Cute as my one and only source of occasional arcade gaming, or will I somehow try to accommodate both in hopes that some time in the future I might move to a bigger place, with a dedicated gaming room where both could feature, perhaps one in permanent TATE mode.

If I am to stay in my small place for 10 more years I think I would want to get rid of the Blast, or perhaps replace it with yet another mini arcade cab, the NEO-19 would fit right in, or perhaps another colour of Cute, but I am getting ahead of myself.

I am looking forward to seeing how large it looks in person. From experience one can look at numerous pictures and videos of something, but never realise the actual scale of an object until it is there in front of one. I have a feeling my impression of how large the Cute is might be way off the reality.
