Just the label looks a bit crap, but it could be 1 of the last games no ?

I have a robokid board and it's the same as the ones above it's very well put together and to me it's nothing like any boot I've ever seen quality wise

Original, although it looks suspiciously like it's on the carpet there, with no feet!

It is an original, but it is a Korean special from when Japan stuff was banned from entering Korea in the 90's. They usually have lower build quality than Japan based built boards.
One key difference is Korean boards sound pots require a flat head screw driver. Japan boards you can just turn the pot with your fingers.

Oh thanks for the extra info. I was wondering why the board has the Mitsubishi roms but I guess that explains it too.ChuChuFlamingo wrote:It is an original, but it is a Korean special from when Japan stuff was banned from entering Korea in the 90's. I'm not sure but I think R-Type is the only M72 Irem game which originally has this small rom board, other M72 games have bigger rom boards.Unite2k wrote:Afternoon guys, I'm considering getting my hands on this R-Type board. While I was originally looking for a clean, unrepaired and original board - they don't pop up that often. What are your thoughts on this one? Is it an original or conversion? And is it normal to have so many eeproms replaced?

Good morning,
opened up the Strike Fighter and took a pic of the Naomi board - very cryptic - lika a conundrum. Anyone got an idea what the numbers might mean? Ultra rarez pre-production prototype or what is it? Who is "triangle"ION? Will take pics of the pcb when I have removed the cart.

No, it was sited. HOWEVER, the cockpit has Italian instructions on the left (where the thrust lever is), so it might have been to Italy at some point of its life. Why STV?

Nothing exciting as it won't be a prototype. You can tell if its as the ROMs would be Intel flash opposed to mask roms

Cheers Andy! Thanks for the info - that clarifies! The cart is indeed loaded with Intel chips. Gotta google what Tecnoplay exactly was / is / means since I am curious to learn about the cab's history (for example, the base has a label stating only a serial number and saying "manufactured in 1998" but as we all know, Sega Strike Fighter came out in 2000 (or was it 2001)? It has another label saying "Sega Strike Fighter STD" and manufactured in England but with no date.andygeezer wrote:Ex tecnoplay stock.Akuma wrote:No, it was sited. Sorry, I am not planning to convert it to a driver but want to keep it original instead. If it is the Italian instructions on the left hand of the CP you're after, I am open for a trade if you have the English (or at least German) language version in a similarly good condition - just PM me then, okay?turntablism wrote:hi akuma, would you sell the sega strike fighter controlpanel ?Akuma wrote:Good morning,

I got a Virtua Tennis 1 cart without any of the plastic stuff on the top and the roms are Intel flash. Does this mean this is a proto version? (To be honest, whenever I press the 3rd button the game freezes and the marquee was kinda weird).

Re: Boot or Original : Post original/bootleg PCB photos here
From what I understood: This means it is a Tecnoplay version. Tecnoplay is an Italy based company which seems to have assembled some Sega cabs by themselves and also burned the roms on some Naomi carts. Is this correct, Andy?DJ Long Cat wrote:Wait wait wait WHAT?andygeezer wrote:Ex tecnoplay stock.Akuma wrote:No, it was sited. Tecnoplay where one of the places that got prototypes/pre-release versions for test locations.Akuma wrote:

Check the EPROM if its the same as retail cart then Intel flash ROMs will be programmed with final data.
